“very nice evening out”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Party of 5 had evening meal, in the restaurant, last Friday evening, the restaurant is clean, tidy and nicely laid out with plenty of room, there was plenty of choice on the menu at a very reasonable price, the food came in good time and the quality was excellent and nicely presented. The waitresses deserve a special mention as they were friendly, helpful and very efficient, overall a very pleasant evening.

Restaurant OK, but dingy. Most rooms OK, but first floor front rooms [and maybe others] need much refurbishment of décor and furniture. Front rooms have no sunblinds, are very hot in summer and suffer much noise from a busy main road. If you get one of these, the manager-lady is very receptive to good natured haggling. Aim for £65 for double occupancy, and £45 for single.

Room Tip: Try to avoid rooms facing the main road. The road is much busier than it sometimes appears to be.

We have frequented this establishment on several occasions in the last year. We always found the restaurant to be bright, clean and friendly. The menu catered for most tastes and the portions were always good. We visited recently and, whilst the refurbishment is completely different, I'm not sure, in my opinion, it is an improvement. It does not reflect the local community. Certainly the menu is not an improvement. Yes, if you want pasta dishes, then fine, but the rest do not, in my opinion, cater for the majority. What really annoyed us, was the prices, totally over the top for what you got. Gone are the old favorites such as Norfolk sausages, liver and bacon, scampi etc.which, on previous visits seemed to go down very well with all and sundry. The staff were friendly enough, but, seemed a little over worked and flustered, when, before, all seemed to flow well. Whilst the changes will suit the tastes of some people, as the reviews show, we will be joining those that will not be returning to The Wayford Bridge inn.

I wrote a review a few a days ago and I would like to slightly change my opinion. The following morning we saw the manager and complained and she agreed things weren't good but gave us a full refund. At least they were prepared to acknowledge that the room was not good and that the beds needed changing but I would strongly advise that you check to see if the rooms have been refurbished before staying because sleeping with springs poking y9u in the ribs and back all night is not a good idea.
The biggest plus is that the manager was astute enough to realise that we were not pleased and that we had experienced a really bad night. The poor staff on the previous evening as due to the fact that they had employed a relief manager - I did suggest that maybe they looked for another one!!

Tatty and poorly maintained room next to a very busy road. All very tired and not worthy of price. Restaurant staffing very inadequate and slow. No care or consideration shown to clientèle. Slow service food late delivered and no apology. We didn't wait for breakfast in the morning.

We, and our friends, re-visited this place after a first, if uninspiring visit, only to find that the whole decor, especially the guest rooms, was very poor and lacked even the smallest remedial attention. The public areas have been decorated in what can only be called a totally tasteless junk obviously as part of a job lot, and are poorly lit . The only reason I've awarded this as 2 merits is solely for the efforts of the sole breakfast waitress, bless her, she really tried hard. It is safe to say we shall not be frequenting this place again.

Hotel clean, staff nice and very friendly. One of our party is "food fussy" and they did their very best to cater for him. We found the food to be very good but with a limited menu. In addition to this, on the three nights that we stayed, without exception there was always something on the menu that was unavailable. However, we would recommend this as being a clean and friendly place to stay.
