Reviewed 25 May 2014

This was our second visit and it was just as good as our first. Steve and Yvonne are wonderful hosts and we love the rooms, the garden and the breakfasts! It is a very relaxing place and we will definitely return.

Came here for an autumn break when we wanted to visit Alnmouth and Alnwick. Lovely clean room, amazing breakfast, very quiet location. Very friendly. Very good (and popular) pub a short walking distance away.

We stayed at The Old School over the Easter weekend. We had a great time, it was our first visit to Northumberland and Steve and Yvonne were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, freshly prepared and plenty of choice. The pub in the village had excellent food and we were fortunate to visit when a local band The Growing Robots were playing, great music! The surrounding area was beautiful and all main attractions were easily accessible. We would highly recommend this lovely part of Northumberland and will definitely return again soon. A great place to stay.

Our second stay with Yvonne and Steve this year, and another warm, friendly welcome - great breakfasts and fabulous advice on where to visit during our stay. The room was again clean and really cosy and the little extras like access to the fridge for extra milk, complimentary water and to store our wine make a difference. Would thoroughly recommend The Old School.

Spent a couple of nights at the charming Old School B&B. As with the other reviewers, we were given a warm, friendly welcome by Yvonne and Steve. The house is absolutely lovely, with lots of nice details. The breakfast deserves all the accolades on the other reviews. The food is clearly top quality and was cooked perfectly. The eggs were from Yvonne and Steve's new chickens which arrived while we were staying. The Cook and Barker is a 5 minute walk round the corner and is a fantastic gastro pub. You need to book though. We ate there both nights and it was full each night. Another stand out was Spurellis - the Italian coffee and ice cream parlour at Amble. Chocolate ice cream milkshake was fab.

We were a party of five staying for three nights a few days before Christmas. We cannot thank Steve and Yvonne enough for their kindness and hospitality. The accomodation was very clean and cosy. The breakfasts were excellent and more than enough if you wanted. Steve and Yvonne were as much like family as one can be having just met, they could not do enough for us and Steve even offered and gave us a lift to the local Pub when it was raining. The pub is the Cook and Barker and is just five minutes walk from the Old School so it is ideal for an evening out and a meal.
A great place to stay if you want to see some of the best sights in Northumberland.

Room Tip: They are all very good.

We brought the snow and cold weather with us from South Yorkshire, but the welcome at The Old School House could not have been warmer. Yvonne and Steve are perfect hosts and cannot do enough to make you feel right at home. The rooms are lovely and breakfast is fantastic. There is also a great pub for evening meals just a few minutes walk away, and the B&B is well-placed to get to lots of different places for day trips with our hosts only too happy to offer recommendations. We had stayed before under different ownership when the B&B had won many awards, but if anything it is even better now. Can't wait to stay again and enjoy Steve and Yvonne's wonderful hospitality in this beautiful part of the world.
