My wife and I ,son and daughter and their extended family plus sister in law and neice ,total ten adults, two teenagers a young boy and a 4 month old baby ,had the privilege of staying at this exquisite Bed and Breakfast ,owned and run by three dedicated sisters . Dedicated to being most welcoming, met at the door on arrival, with warmth and made to feel at home .Nothing was too much trouble , the rooms were well appointed with furniture and furnishings in sympathy with the beautiful Thorp House ,solidly built in Yorkshire stone . The rooms are all named after birds ,and had the most comfortable beds ,as we all agreed ,sleep came quickly and we were well rested .It was wonderful to draw the curtains in the morning and look out over the grounds ,with its large lake and gardens ,set in an exclusve part of the River Calder valley, surrounded by woods .
Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room ,full English with all the trimmings available ,the eggs were delicious ,from corn fed chickens so lovely golden yolks, all items were locally sourced ,plus home made marmalade ,all delicious ,best breakfast I've had for many a day !
We stayed two nights , having attended a wedding celebration, but would book here ,as first choice , when visiting the area ,ideal for walkers and tourists who enjoy the beauty of West Yorkshire as it is accesible by excellent rail and road links .....definite recommend for those who seek a relaxing and comfortable stay in this gem of a Bed and Breakfast ,we will return ,thank you ladies for cosseting us !

Room Tip: All rooms have free Wifi ,which would suit itinerant business people, but also provides amusement fo...

We had the pleasure of staying here whilst attending a family wedding reception in June 2014. As you drive along the driveway you can't help but smile and be impressed with the beautifully maintained grounds and house. Upon arrival we were met by Pamela, who was very friendly and welcoming. Pamela showed us to our rooms and gave us a brief history of the property. We stayed in Songthrush and Chaffinch and wow, what amazing rooms they are! Pamela and her sisters have put so much passion into restoring their former family home and have worked hard to retain original features within the property. Our whole family slept wonderfully and breakfast was served at the time we required it, and not within a set time period as is often the case in hotels. Nothing was too much trouble, including arranging a number of taxis to transport 14 of us to the reception venue. A wonderful experience from start to finish. We are already planning our next trip to Yorkshire and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else from now on.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent!

We arrived to stay for one night as a relaxing break. On arrival we was met an accompanied to our rooms an also helped to carry our luggage....we stayed in the kingfisher room, which overlooked the whole gardens. Which my partner described as breathtaking... Room was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable I wanted to take it home, location was good for all amenities and the breakfast... Well as big English breakfast fan, I will say probably the best we've ever eaten. We were so impressed with the surroundings that we are now considering hosting our wedding there next year. Would be ideal for photographs.. Thank you Thorpe House we'll see you soon

Thorpe House, it's grounds and location are all wonderful; but the quality that sets it apart from everywhere else we've stayed is the warm welcome offered by the three wonderful sisters who run it.

Pamela, Carol and Cyan have personified kindness, excellent customer service and professionalism since I first emailed them to ask about booking Thorpe House for our wedding party this summer. We've just spent three nights there and it was wonderful. Our room (Kingfisher) was spacious, beautifully decorated and had fantastic views. The bed was huge and comfy and the bathroom was large and well equipped.

Breakfast was delicious! All quality, locally sourced produce served in the beautiful dining room with views over the grounds. The eggs were the tastiest I've had for years and my other half raved about the bacon and sausages too. Pamela, Carol and Cyan told us where they and all the ingredients can be bought.

The next time we'll be back will be for our wedding, and we can't wait. We know our family and friends will love Thorpe House and have a great stay, which is a big relief. Pamela told us: "Don't worry - we'll take good care of you"; and we know they will.

We can't recommend Thorpe House highly enough: it's such a special place to stay. Book a room now!

My husband arranged for us to stay at Thorpe House for our first night as a married couple. After such a magical day celebrating our wedding nothing gave us more pleasure then being driven up the sweeping drive to a large country house. Our room was beautiful and in the morning the view from our bedroom windows was breathtaking. We were greeted by the owners who are lovely and taken through to the breakfast room, our English Breakfast was delicious and I would highly recommend trying their marmalade (which is hand made by one of the owners),with a slice of toast accompanied by a pot of tea, we sat over looking Thorpe House's gardens, it was a perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Room Tip: we stayed in the Swan Room
