“Superb half timbered excellence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 November 2010

I had been to stay at the Willow House on a number of occasions and was delighted by it being a good local pub with half timbering and thatch in the centre of a south Norfolk town. This week I returned after about a year and found that the rooms had improved superbly. They are a later addition ranged round a rear court and have been refurbished. My guest ( lady of some years) was a little suprised to find the Leonardo Da Vinci of Vitruvian man (1460) - almost life size - in her room, but became used to him! Don't remove it! My own room was also excellent. What has remained is the excellent restaurant. The Willow Tree is worth a visit for this alone. There are good bar meals as well and the whole ambience is welcoming.

I booked 5 rooms for family & friends and we found the hotel was first class and all the rooms were spacious & clean.Breakfast was well presented with a good choice and there is a very good car park and being in the centre of Watton is very handy. As the Hotel is set back from the main road we never heard any traffic at night.

My husband and I spent just three nights at Willow House Hotel and are glad that we chose it above all the others we look at on the net. We wanted a convenient spot for travelling around south Norfolk and this was it.

Now to the nitty gritty - rooms were excellent, large and included everything you need especially a well-stocked and regularly replenished hospitality tray. Shower room - no bath - small but this didn't matter - you don't spend much time in there. Bed/s really comfortable.

Food was very good. However, you would need to starve yourself before coming here because the portions are huge and always well-cooked and well-presented. Ecellent bar meals.

Breakfasts, cooked to order, so it was all fresh and filling, including plenty of toast, tea and coffee.

The staff were really friendly, as were the proprietors, Madeleine and Duncan, who would go "the extra mile" to make sure your stray was a pleasant one.

Thoroughly recommended and hope to visit again

Viv and Barry

PS. We also took our dog who also enjoyed her holiday there.

have tried to find somewhere decent to stay in this area many times and have always been disappointed the willows rooms are clean and pleasent but a tip to the owners please get some new towels the ones we had were like sandpaper otherwise the rooms were o.k breakfast was the best part of the stay freshly cooked with decent quality of food but unfortunatly we decided to eat al a carte for our evening meal whoever was cooking had ambitions far exceding their capabilitys with a desire to over garnish everything in short the food was rubbish our tip eat in the bar the more simple food served was more in keeping with the pub and the skills of the chef and dont even think about eating al a carte if time is an issue we waited ages for our food and although we apprecate that real food takes time the wait was not worth the rubbish served up so would we stay again yes room was clean quiet and convenently located would we eat there again no

We normally stay at this place. It's an old Inn with a good atmosphere not found too often these days. The staff are friendly and the service great. Good restaurant for lunch and evening meals and an excellent breakfast. The bar is a good place to spend a pleasant evening with the locals and we have had many pleasant evenings here. The best part is that the rooms have had a make over and what a difference. We are looking forward to our next visit.
