“We just loved it !!!”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

It was by pure accident that we booked this B&B and we must say : we immediately booked it again for 4 nights next year !
I am an airline pilot and therefore have seen my share of rooms over the years, but honestly, I have never slept in an environment as beautifull as this one ! Everything and I mean everything has been considered by the owners. The eye for detail that went into this B&B is just stunning ! The breakfast served by the owners is a collection of country side products and are all fresh of the land. No orange juice out of a bottle, no sir, fresh ! Pinneaple - fresh !
Coffee, tea - make your choice out of a bunch of flavors that you can brew in own of those design kitchen machines. Absolutely amazing !
Time for some relaxing - book a massage by a professional therapiste that will come to the B&B and will take of your sour musccles in a seperate, cosy room. Or sit outside in your private little garden. Not even to mention the plans the owner still has to install a fitness and a sauna !
Besides the great service you get, it is also located in the perfect spot to visit the landing beaches, the city of Caen with it's excellent War Museum or even further to the west to places as St-Malo or the abbey on the Mont-St-Michel - all in reach for a day trip.
So if you ever decide to visit that part of Normandy - have no doubt whatever and spend the night with Gerard and Héléne and you will not be disappointed !!!

Room Tip: Each room has it's own theme and combination of colours. The one on the ground floor is accesibl...

We stayed at Les Oiseaux de Passage for 2 nights in May. It is a beautifully restored barn, with 3 bedrooms, and so ideal if you wanted to rent the entire house with friends or family. Helene and Gerard are very welcoming, make a lovely breakfast, and are happy to help with suggestions of things to do and places to visit in the area. The B&B is ideal for visiting the Normandy landing beaches, Bayeux, St Mere Eglise or just relaxing in the countryside. Can't recommend it enough!

My husband, myself and our two children stayed at Helene and Gerard's Bed and Breakfast for a weekend trip to visit the Normandy battle sites and the American cemetary (we are a French-American family). The bed and breakfast has been beautifully restored and is impeccably clean. Each room has a different theme (Since they had just opened we were able to see the newly-renovated rooms. They all looked wonderful. One downstairs room is particularly well-adapted for guests with disabilities). Helene and Gerard took the time to help us settle in and figure out our weekend plan. They are very attentive to details and I was amazed at their warm and authentic welcome. They are very talented hosts. The room had a small tray with juice, water (and chocolate and biscuits for the kids. Helene had obviously anticipated their arrival.) The room was also very spacious. We felt like we had plenty of room for four. They prepared a delicious breakfast with homemade and local products (Helene even sent some of the muffins along with us for the kids' snack later in the day). They were careful to make sure all of our needs were met and answered all of our questions, yet they were not too intrusive. It was the perfect balance.
There is a social area downstairs where you can make yourself a cup of coffee or read magazines or books about the region. This is also where the breakfast is served. Gerard built a much appreciated fire in the wood stove in this room (it was a cold weekend).
Because of the cold winter they were just beginning to finish the landscaping in the front yard when we were there, but it looks like it will be a very pretty place to be in the summer. It is in a country setting and is therefore very peaceful, but is also easily accessible from the the main national road which is just a few minutes drive away.

I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anybody visiting this area of Normandy. We will certainly return again in the future.
