Reviewed 4 May 2014

we stayed at B&B Les Oiseaux de Passage in our Easter holiday for 5 days and it was the best choice ! Very good place to stay to explore the region: very close to lots of interesting places (debarquement beaches, Bayeux, Cotentin peninsula etc).
A lovely old house, recently refurbished, very cosy and with all needed comfort.
But the most we enjoyed the warm welcome and attention of the owners during our entire stay !
Last but not least: we and especially our kids loved the very nice & tasty breakfasts prepared by Gerard & Helene !

Thank you very much for your very kind appreciation about your stay in our guest house. We really do our best to be sure our guests will feel comfortable, in a friendly atmosphere, in an authentic old house from Normandy. We had real good time together as the visit of the storks colony! You just were a great family!

If you plan for trip to Normandy and don´t want to stay in a hotel - this is the place to be.

You get anything you can ask for a perfect B&B.
Nice rooms, good location, extremly friendly and personal atmosphere.

The guest house is designed to be a wonderful mix between an old farmhouse, fully reconstructed, and modern interior, nicely blended together.
Breakfast is excellent with lots of fresh things on the table.
The owners are very friendly and have many good hints for sightseeing, restaurants and other spots to see.
4 stars for location is only valid for people without a car, because it will be difficult to get there by public transport. But this is not very important, because for a trip to Normandy you need a car anyway.
Otherwise the location is perfect, because there´s no noise from traffic, but nevertheless you are on the connecting highway in a few minutes. So it is a perfect spot for a holiday close to the "Beach", may it be for the nature experience or reasons of history. All the typical places from Utah to Gold/Sword sector are in acceptable distance. Didn´t try bicycles, but even that may be possible for the closer spots like Omaha Beach.

Overall : Top notch

Room Tip: The location in general is very calm. But if you are extremely (over)sensitive to noise, ask for th...

We visited Isigny-sur-Mer in September and stayed for three nights. We were on a month-long tour of the western part of France and selected Les Oiseaux de Passage for its location and on the strength of the website and the reviews. We expected it to be nice but it far surpassed all expectations and was one of our favorite stays on the vacation.

It was our first visit to Normandy but the directions were good and we had no trouble finding Les Oiseaux. From the road it was stunning and we were instantly happy. That feeling continued as we were greeted by Gerard and saw where we would be spending the next few nights. First of all, the B and B is in a separate house and has three bedrooms as well as living area, dining area, kitchen, and patio. Gerard and his daughter designed the spaces and they are all so beautiful. There is a real feeling of the area in the decorating; the house and gardens are very much a part of the feeling of Normandy. In addition, it is spotlessly clean. The bedrooms and baths are spacious and thoughtfully appointed. The bed was very comfortable.

Gerard showed us around and gave us some of the history of the area. In fact, each time we spoke with him we learned more and more. He also invited us to bring our lunch or dinner home with us and enjoy the dining room or patio. We felt very comfortable there. Both he and his wife, Helene, are very friendly and welcoming. They had loads of suggestions of things to see and do. Helene, we did stop at the Caramel factory and bought a lot to take home for presents. We also enjoyed a large bag on the rest of the trip. Best caramels ever! I have looked for them in Seattle since we returned and finally found them; I'm so happy!

Breakfasts were delightful. Each morning, Gerard introduced the guests at the table and encouraged conversation amongst us. The meals were different every morning and featured local products. It is clear that this is a labor of love for Gerard and Helene.

We did a lot of driving around in the area. There is so much history in the area and so many outdoor and family activities. It is very scenic with lots of small towns in easy driving distance and many local foods to discover. We were so glad to have found Les Oiseaux and look forward to returning someday.

This B&B should be the Gold Standard for B&B's! The room and area where we stay in is separate from the owners who live in the home next to it, making the stay feel like we had our own space. The decor and design of this converted barn is like something out of a design magazine. The owners were very warm and the breakfasts were fabulous! Comfortable stay for our Normandy trip!

Four of us stayed here on a cycle ride to paris. We had a hard day cycling into a strong headwind. The owners greeted us with a lovely glass of local apple juice. The rooms are stunning, as is the house. Really friendly owners who drove us into town for dinner; 20-30 minute walk back.
Beds and shower were excellent. Breakfast in the morning was substantial and great quality filled with local products that the owners are clearly, and rightly, proud to provide. All in all I have nothing but praise for this excellent B and B.

It was by pure accident that we booked this B&B and we must say : we immediately booked it again for 4 nights next year !
I am an airline pilot and therefore have seen my share of rooms over the years, but honestly, I have never slept in an environment as beautifull as this one ! Everything and I mean everything has been considered by the owners. The eye for detail that went into this B&B is just stunning ! The breakfast served by the owners is a collection of country side products and are all fresh of the land. No orange juice out of a bottle, no sir, fresh ! Pinneaple - fresh !
Coffee, tea - make your choice out of a bunch of flavors that you can brew in own of those design kitchen machines. Absolutely amazing !
Time for some relaxing - book a massage by a professional therapiste that will come to the B&B and will take of your sour musccles in a seperate, cosy room. Or sit outside in your private little garden. Not even to mention the plans the owner still has to install a fitness and a sauna !
Besides the great service you get, it is also located in the perfect spot to visit the landing beaches, the city of Caen with it's excellent War Museum or even further to the west to places as St-Malo or the abbey on the Mont-St-Michel - all in reach for a day trip.
So if you ever decide to visit that part of Normandy - have no doubt whatever and spend the night with Gerard and Héléne and you will not be disappointed !!!

Room Tip: Each room has it's own theme and combination of colours. The one on the ground floor is accesibl...

We stayed at Les Oiseaux de Passage for 2 nights in May. It is a beautifully restored barn, with 3 bedrooms, and so ideal if you wanted to rent the entire house with friends or family. Helene and Gerard are very welcoming, make a lovely breakfast, and are happy to help with suggestions of things to do and places to visit in the area. The B&B is ideal for visiting the Normandy landing beaches, Bayeux, St Mere Eglise or just relaxing in the countryside. Can't recommend it enough!
