I've been here several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it. Start your day with an amazing breakfast buffet. Hit the pool - one of the best in Vietnam. Enjoy a drink overlooking the ocean. Maybe meet the GM and some guests at the wine bar for wine and cheese or sundowners. Enjoy a dinner seafood buffet. Nice thing here is that it is just a bit removed from the rather chaotic tourist strip on the main drag (which tends to get noisy with discos etc). Staff are incredibly friendly and go the extra mile. A little bonus is the traditional Cham band that plays in the afternoon in the lobby - cool!

-THE RESORT - :After 2 weeks of travelling Vietnam from north to south we ended up in the Pandanus with great pleasure. The resort is very big and the gardens well looked after. The swimming pool offers a large number of sun loungers whether by the pool, the gardens or even facing the ocean.

THE STAFF - : is welcoming and always polite even though the language barrier can make things a tad bit difficult at times, but if in need of anything just ask for Ross who's in charge of customers relation (i think!), she's great and will sort anything out!

- FOOD - : the buffet breakfast will make you put on weight! and the a la carte menu caters for just about every taste in the world even though it's a bit expensive (the prices are all ++ which means that they will add 5% service, and 10% tax)

-ROOMS - : they're spacious with private balconies and the bathroom is huge all being very clean. There's a bottle of water per person/per day in your room, complimentary of the hotel.

-THE SPA - they have a beautiful spa with 2 outdoors massage areas. UNFORTUNATELY the staff is not welcoming or even trained properly and a massage that should have been a relaxing experience turned out into a nightmare. I had a painful massage with a girl who didn't understand what i was trying to explain to her or even seemed to know what she was doing, i was about to sit up when i realised that another girl was already presenting me with the bill! i signed it, and went back to my room to have a shower as my back was feeling quite hot only to realise that it had been burnt with the hot stones!
i went back to the spa and asked to speak to a manager. suddenly the girls were smiling and trying to coarse me into having a cup of tea! i ended up with Ross who was very professional and sorted everything out.

All in all, a good place to stay if you want some peace and quiet, far from Mui Ne (but they do offer free shuttle), the beach is not very clean (even though the resort's staff is trying to clean it every day) but the swimming pool makes up for it ten fold!

Framboisine,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of the Pandanus Resort and thank you for staying with us.

We take criticisms from guests very seriously and use the comments from guests to improve our services. Regarding your negative experience with our hot stone therapy, I must apologize. This is a relatively new service that was recently added by our previous spa manager. Evidently she did not understand that the stones must be heated with steam, rather than in an oven. We have just changed the process so that the stones will not be too hot in future.

I am calling a meeting with all of our spa staff today to discuss your remarks. I will make them aware that, if they don't understand what a guest is trying to tell them, they must call Ross or one of the other pr staff members to translate for them. Also, I will reiterate the importance of a proper attitude.

Our spa staff have all undergone extensive training and have been certified. However, all the training in the world will not make up for an inability to communicate and to understand what a guest may be trying to say.

Thank you, again, for your comments and I hope that you will have the opportunity to return some day in the future.

My sister, nephew and I were fortunate enough to be able to stay at the Pandanus in mid July. After long train and bus trips and the frenetic energy of Hanoi, this was a lovely oasis, allowing us the chance to be lazy and revive ourselves. The little excursions away from the resort were just right for a relaxing stay: complimentary shuttles took us to the market and Fairy Stream. The shuttle driver (sorry, I'm not sure of his name - perhaps Mr. Thieu?) took such good care of us on the latter excursion, showing us just what to do, stopping along the road for us to take photos when he heard us exclaim over the scenery, and taking care of our shoes while we waded through the stream to this beautiful red and white sandstone canyon. As noted by other reviewers, Miss Rossilyn at the front and tour desks was very polite and helpful, even arranging tickets for our bus to Saigon when it was time to leave. :(

Our room and the grounds were lovely and very clean, and the pool and beach area was beautiful. As it is off season, the resort was uncrowded, so no problem with getting a table in the restaurant or loungers by the pool and beach. The included breakfast was an attractive, diverse, plentiful and tasty way to start each day!

We highly recommend this wonderful resort. Keep up the good work, Pandanus friends!

Our family of 7 stayed at the Pandanus Resort for 2 nights. We had a family room and a superior room, both of which were very clean and comfortable. The resort itself is set on spacious grounds which are kept magnificently by the army of gardeners.

If you are looking for somewhere to catch your breath and just relax from the hassle of seeing this beautiful country then Pandanus fits the bill. There is a choice between sitting by the pool or overlooking e ocean, both of which let you just unwind.

The food/drinks are typical of a resort and were fine, but we did have lunch at a restaurant across the road (first one on the left as you come out) and it was great, especially the squid dishes.

The resort offers free shuttles to Fairy Stream and the Fish markets. We did both and the kids really enjoyed them. We also made use of the evening shuttle into Mui Ne's main drag. Had some difficulty locating the restaurants we wanted due to the odd street numbering system so beware.

All in all , the staff were friendly , especially Ros on front desk, however they were more reserved than we have seen elsewhere, possibly due to a lack of English.

As I said before if you are looking for a place to relax, Pandanus is great and we would recommend it without hesitation

We booked a 5 pm bus from Phuong Trang from Saigon but the bus came late and we eventually departed at 5.40 pm. By the time we arrived at the resort it was already 12.30 am. Good thing we ate something at the rest area at 10 plus pm otherwise we would go hungry.

The resort was rather dark as it was already past midnight and only a security guard was on duty who called a front desk staff to process our check in details which took less than 5 minutes as I had already emailed the resort we would be arriving late but didn't expect it to be so late. We booked a standard twin room and requested for the two beds to be arranged into one bed and it was very nicely done up with neat beddings. The beds were good and we had a very good night sleep after the long tiring bus journey.

However, the birds outside the garden already started chirping at 6 am. So we got up early and went for breakfast which was already quite crowded. The food was very good and service staff simply friendly and keen to serve. Nevertheless, there were two incidents which left much to be desired. I was queuing for my pho, a male staff was holding a stack of empty bowls coming to replenish the pho station. Instead of politely asking me to allow him space to go through, he placed his hand on my back and moved me a little to make space for him to get through. I suppose he thought I was one of their locals so I won't mind. Another case was when the guests at our adjacent table had vacated, the staff came to clear the table and another lady staff came by to sweep the floor around us while we were still eating. While it is good to keep the restaurant clean at all times but churning out dust while guests are dining is not a very good idea. I consider these as minor incidents which has to do with communication and staff training.

One main reason we chose this resort is its proximity to the red sand dune. It is just about 100 m to right of the hotel. Shouldn't miss the sand dune if you are staying here.

The resort has a very nice garden and the whole place is simply beautiful. The beach was quite clean except there were some small jelly fish on the beach. Swimmers may want to take note. The huge swimming pool was a joy to indulge in a relaxing swim during a hot day. There are also other facilities like spa, tennis court, table tennis, pool table which we didn't use.

We requested for late checkout at 1 pm since we arrived after midnight but was denied, not even for half an hour. Was told there were many guests coming that day and they needed time to clean the rooms. So we checked out at 12 noon and went back to the restaurant for a nice lunch before we left. We really enjoyed the friendly service from the restaurant staff and the ambience of the whole place. Will stay longer the next time should we visit Mui Ne again.

By the way, if you do not wish to take a taxi to town, just cross the road in front of the resort and wait for a local bus. It costs 9000 vnd for us to take a ride to other resorts nearer to Phan Thiet city.

We had a company function at this resort. I last visited more than 4 years ago. Then, it was known as the l'an mien and looked totally high end. The resort is now Thai owned ( I think). It has also become more commercial, and now caters to tour groups like mine. As a result, the exclusive nature is quite tough to balance. How do u control a group of Vietnamese tourists from having a private swimming competition in their pool. Pity.

Food at the breakfast hall is awesome. They have an expat chef, and the quality is very high for Vietnamese standards. As a person based in Vietnam, I have had worst.

Rooms are big but a bit bare.

Overall, stay but dun expect the exclusive nature of a resort.

This review is not for the Pandanus Resort. This is a review for Anantara Resort, formerly L'Anmien. I told trip advisor to move it to Anantara, but they responded that there is nothing wrong with the review and would leave it where it is.

After a 6hr road journey from Ho Chi Minh City check in was quick and efficient. A cold fruit juice was provided in the foyer. The Bellboy showed us to our third floor room which we found to be adequate and spacious.
The grounds of the complex are gorgeous and are constantly being worked on by maintenance staff.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant and was nice with plenty to choose from, eggs station, noodles, fruits, cereals, you could always find something different.
Dinners are reasonable but not great, this may have been our fault with our selection despite going for the Vietnamese selection. The prices at the bar were a little expensive but off set by the happy hour two for one cocktail deal till 8 pm.
The pool is wonderful and a great size, plenty of beds and the pool guys are always available to provide mattresses and put up the parasol. The area of the beach is also good with big straw parasols for shade.
The only problem we had was our air conditioning in our room was leaking on the first night leaving puddles on the floor. This was reported to manager Ross who immediately moved us to and much nicer room on the second floor with a bigger balcony with no further problems.
