Have been to the Springer Spaniel quite a lot over the years and it has bobbled up and down a bit at times. Was happy to try the place out again and pleasantly surprised - not sure how long the current owners have been running the place but must be making a difference.

Good atmosphere and good food - at least two dogs spotted so dog friendly too.

Will return and also update my parents-in-law on revised status.

Called in for lunch on the way to Bude (from Kent). Service, food, staff could not have been more welcoming and hospitable, nothing too much trouble. Cost was reasonable, in this day and age ( you get what you pay for !!) Would not hesitate to visit again if in the area.

We ate in the restaurant of this pub for our wedding anniversary, wanting something special but comfortable and homely and that's exactly what we got! Admittedly it's not cheap, but we knew that and were happy to pay a bit more for our special occasion. Food was excellent, service was efficient, had a lovely evening and would certainly return in the future.

This could possibly be a good restaurant if one is inclined to eat an appetizer, entree and dessert with alcohol. However, ordering just appetizers will garner rudeness and obliviousness.

We have just got back from lofton and the first Sunday we stopped at the springer for lunch, wow, mr chef that was the best beef I have ever tasted, so much so that we not only travelled back for the following Sunday we also went a couple of evenings and the food didn't dissapoint even though we were a drive away it's so worth it, great staff great food, and the pooch got his own treats too, loved this pub.
