“Quiet, peaceful and relaxing”
Reviewed 31 March 2014 via mobile

For a weekend stopover, coming from Maun, the place was very relaxed. Campsites are spacious, nicely shaded ( at least where we have put our tents), nice swimming pool and ablutions clean with hot water showers. The restaurant/bar was great, choice was abundant, meals very tasty, especially for meat lovers. Some more veggies could be offered, but the green salad did help us out.

Stayed for a few nights here with my partner and enjoyed every minute of it! We were camping with our own tent but they also provide accommodation in their own purpose built tents which looked like luxury. The wildlife here is unbelievable! We saw such a wide variety of birds and other animals down by the watering hole - which is the perfect distance from the restaurant/bar to sit and watch with a beer! And the food on offer here is simply amazing, the steaks were huge and they even offer more 'exotic' meals of ostrich, kudu and warthog! Overall Thakadu offers an amazing experience and I would highly recommend to anyone passing through!

the road in is a little bumpy, but still accessible by out tazz 2X4 and the pay off when you arrive is worth it, a clean pool, large choice of cold refreshments served by friendly and informative owner, from the bar you can watch animals come to the waterhole and a vast array of birds chirping in the trees all over, the accommodation was very affordable and the rooms were in keeping with the surroundings while being spacious and very comfortable, the restaurant is just amazing, for a small operation the menu is vast, the choice of game steaks was unrivaled on my travels and cooked to perfection. the next morning we embarked on a bushman walk and had the pleasure of learning all the ways of the san people, watched how they get water in the desert and make fire using sticks! it was an amazing and informative activity. the whole experience of this little place was tremendous!

Campsites were pretty basic, but the ability to use the facilities like the restaurant, bar, pool, and waterhole, made for a nice stop for one night en route back to Windhoek. The food at the restaurant was quite good for both lunch and dinner. Reasonably priced. In the evening choose a table where you can view the animals that come to drink from the waterhole.

From the restaurant, you have a very nice view on the farm's waterhole with elands, ostrichs and warthogs.
In the restaurant, they serve great game, with crust and very juicy and tender inside. The owner is a very nice person, you will have a good time chatting with him while having your drink. The pool is clean, lays in the shade with view on the waterhole as well. It is an excellent place to survive the afternoon heat.
The campsite facilities are OK, you have your own light and plug socket. We were pestered by mosquito in the night.
I definitely recommend you the bushmen walk where bushmen show you their traditional way of living!

Have stayed at Thakadu on many occasions and always been received with friendly help. Nothing is to much trouble for Chris and his team be it organising San Dancing or anti malaria tablets at the local chemist.
You have to remember that this is a Bush Camp and not a Lodge. If you want the luxury (and pricing) that goes with a lodge thats fine but for a real welcome, touch of Africa and efficient services then visit Chris and Co at Thakadu .

This has always been a popular stopover for campers with its lively "Aardvark Restaurant". It is well positioned for traveling on further north. It has campsites plus pre-erected tented sites. We felt this time, that it does need a little upgrading. The ablutions really need a coat of paint and modernizing. Its such a pleasure when camping when you come across good clean, modern ablutions with plenty of hot water. This I'm afraid wasn't one of those!
