Attracted by good reviews on this site and have to say a bit disappointed on arrival. Pub itself is quite shabby and smells like every occupant has just been outside for a cigarette. Wouldn't have wanted to eat in the main bar because of the smell so quite glad to be ushered through a succession of corridors to the skittle alley at the back. It appears that the carvery is the only option on a Sunday lunchtime, although the website doesn't make this clear. We were late arriving (1.45pm) and there was just about enough meat for the four of us. The meal was really tasty, however - crispy roast potatoes and a good selection of vegetables. Trying to pay was a bit of a trial - no staff in the skittle alley so went through to the main bar (which was heaving with locals so they are doing lots right) and still took ages till there was anyone around to take our money. A pub this busy must be doing lots right but it wasn't really our scene.
