“Great apartments in a lovely area”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

We really enjoyed our ten day stay at these apartments in September. Whilst not luxurious, they are very clean and represent great value for money. The kitchen is basic but this did not bother us as we did not intend to do any cooking. The soft furnishings and bedding are spotless and the bathroom is of a good standard. With temperatures around 30 degrees,we appreciated the efficient air con which is free. There is a small charge for the use of a safe in the room.
Our large and extremely private balcony overlooked the beautiful bay and the pool area, which was very quiet, with ample shade and sunbeds. In fact there were only a few others around the pool any time we did use it.
The apartments are ideally suited to those who want a relaxing break in a picturesque location. While Porto Petro is only a 15 minute easy walk, I would recommend hiring a car in order to appreciate the area which has many beautiful coves and beaches. Porto Petro itself is a really lovely little fishing port with numerous good restaurants, many on the water's edge, and a two small supermarkets. In the evenings the atmosphere is very relaxed as the village does not have any tacky Brit or Irish bars or indeed noisy karaoke clubs. If this is what you enjoy then Porto Petro is not the place for you!
Overall we had a wonderful relaxing time and would definately recommend these apartmants.

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor have lovely views of the bay.

Lovely, family run block of only 18 apartments in a quiet location 20 mins walk from Port Petro or Cala Egos/Es Forti. Rooms are quite large and whilst not luxurious are well fitted out with everthing you could want except there is no oven, only 2-rings. Providing a small combi microwave would do the trick. The air con was absolutely fantastic and essential in August with temps well into the 90s. Views across the bay to Porto Petro are to die for. One downside there is now no on-site bar/restaurant, just a drinks machine. This is a real pain unless you have a car. Porto Perto is lovely with a great selection of bars/restaurants and smattering of shops/small supermarkets .Overall we all had a great time and will probably return.

Returned from these apartments late September after a wonderful holiday. I remember my parents had tried many times to book a holiday here since the block was built in the mid '70s but could never find it in any brochure in the pre-internet days. It was therefore a little bit of a surprise to find it on a British website and I booked it out of a slight mixture of curiosity and sentiment. WHAT A FAB DECISION! We booked through Flightline (EXCELLENT!) and the logistics were managed to perfection. On arrival at the apartments we were greeted by a helpful and friendly receptionist who clearly explained how everything works and directed us to the apartment. The communal areas and staircase were spotless, as was the apartment. Upon entering, one immediately becomes aware of the very high standard to which these apartments are kept. Although basic, the soft furnishings were very clean and in good condition. The decor was pleasing and the kitchen area was immaculate if a bit minimal. Although we ate out all of the time, other guests in neighbouring apartments managed to cook all their meals on the two-ring hob, which is all that is offered. The bathroom, all white tiles and marble, was the same standard as an acceptable hotel. The bedroom a good size with enough storage space and I found the balcony, which was large, not overlooked and had a sea view, a great place to bake or chill depending on the time of day. The Niu D'aus is quiet through the day and silent throughout the night. As there are only eighteen apartments, the pool area always has plenty of empty sunbeds and the pool, itself very well maintained, was never what you could call full and usually empty. Unlike some accomodation, the quiet effective air con, the sunbeds and the sat tv, (CNN and Eurosport) were free but there is a charge for the safe The apartments are a ten minute walk from Porto Petro, about eight minutes from Egos but I would set aside a good half hour to walk to Cala d'Or as the marina is quite a size. Walking to Egos to eat at one of the many restaurants, (about 20 to 25 euros per head) is no problem but I wouldn't enjoy carrying bags of shopping and 5L of water back from the nearest supermarket at Egos. Taxis and buses are readily available, with a bus stop being less than 20 yards from the apartment's entrance. We decided to hire a car for the whole holiday and once I'd figured out how it worked, (C4 Picasso with EGS [WHAT?!!]), this was no longer an issue.
Inspite of the tone of this review, I am genuinely not easy to please, yet I can find very little to critisize here. I would have no hesitation in recommending these apartments to a friend but as I don't have any, I'll have to recommend them to all on 'TripAdvisor'. I will return here in the future.
As for Cala d'Or, well, I've been holidaying there since the 1970s. I've seen a few changes, not all for the better, but I still love the place. The atmosphere is very relaxed and always puts me at ease. I have seen a few reviews suggesting that Cala d'Or is tacky and not the "REAL SPAIN". It's true that there are 'Brit-bars' and kareoke towards Ferrera and that is not my scene. But I have never found the sight of other people enjoying themselves offensive. And to be honest, if they want the "REAL SPAIN", what on earth are they doing going to Cala d'Or? I've been to The Reina Sofia, The Valley of the Fallen and The Alhambra and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. But I go to Cala d'Or to laze about in the sun, to eat well and to just chill out and unwind and for me, it does that perfectly.

Niu Daus is a small complex of 18 apartments. They are clean and comfortable and the public areas are also kept clean. The self catering facilities are somewhat limited (two rings and a fridge). Towel change is teice weekly and linen change weekly. The apartments are set on a main road and are about 15 mins from Porto Petro in one direction and about 20minutes from Cala Egosse in the other (walking times). The Cala D'Or marina is also about 20 minutes away. These are all contrasting places and are all worth a visit especially Tony's bar in Cala Egosse for lovely food and delicious sangria. A word to the wise! One day after the cleaners had been in we discovered thar 2 £20 notes were missing from the £100 in English money that we had for emergencies. It was not left lying around but was actually in the cupboard behind the cornflakes. We reported this to the girl on reception who said she would tell her boss. Two days later, having heard nothing we saw the manager and reported it to him. He assured us he would speak to the staff and get back to us but never did. OK it was not a fortune but it did put a damper on the last 6 days and we would not go there again even though up until that point we were considering it.
