The chalet is situated in Vallorcine which is a little further up the valley, from Chamonix, the hosts, Steve & Helen, were fantastic! Really lovely and you really do feel as if you in a home away from home they are so welcoming and relaxed. The chalet decor is contemporary and still has that lovely comfortable feel to it with the wood burning stove and open plan kitchen/living/dining areas.
Helens cooking is fantastic and she is happy to accommodate your personal preferences. The food was delicious, breakfast had a huge selection of jams, croissants and a cooked selection too- again all to your preference. We came back from the slopes every day to homemade cakes, and before dinner Helen provided appetisers of pâté, cured meats and salami.
Supper itself was a three course meal, of which our favourites were the prawns Helen had smoked herself and also the homemade Roquefort sauce with steak and dauphinois! All absolutely delicious.
We could not have had a more wonderful stay at The Guest house, the rooms and beds are so warm and comfortable. The huge free standing bath was also a treat for sore ski legs in the evening.
The location of The Guest House is in close proximity to lifts and Steve and Helen have been very happy to take us places as well as organise airport transfers. They also have parking space for the car as some of us drove and some of us flew.
All in all we had the most perfect week at The Guest House, we could not recommend it enough. Steve and Helen do an absolutely grand job as hosts, the location, decor and food also have left us pining for a return trip.
