Had dinner at The Board Inn. The place is lovely and the service was excellent. The menu looked very good. All four of us had a fish main course and sadly we were all disappointed with the fish - soggy plaice and overcooked haddock. The chips and vegetables were excellent and the desserts were fantastic - the home made ice cream is lovely. Good ales and a good wine list also

We were introduced to this by friends of our daughter. Stayed in Ash Cottage, 6 adults 4 dogs, brilliant just a few steps away from the Board Inn run by Karen and Alistair a lovely couple. A great area for walks with our dogs. Tiring them out, so we could enjoy the delicious food at the Board in the evening. Never seen a cheese board like it ! what a choice ! Food sourced locally - when we asked what a J Raw steak was - told that's the farmer's name where it comes from ! The breakfasts are not for the faint hearted, don't think I've ever tasted such sweet succulent mushrooms. We will definitely be returning to such a pretty village, fantastic food and very friendly locals. Unlike some pubs that have gone up market in Norfolk, and driven the locals away, the Board is obviously the hub of the village and rightly so.

Our third visit to The Board Inn. Quite simply you must go here. Karen and Alistair are brilliant hosts nothing is too much trouble. You always get a warm welcome and there are lots of little touches that make a big difference. Lealholm itself is a pretty little village and the Board Inn is the epicentre. Its close to the moors and coast. We always stay in room 5. A lovely 4 poster bed with ensuite and a dressing room with sofa tv dressing table and gorgeous view over the bridge. Plenty of tea coffee hot chocolate etc and home made biscuits. Everywhere is spotless and tasteful. The pub itself offers lots of different drinks guest ales good wines and over 50 whiskeys a hit with the hubby. The locals are all friendly and entertaining and the atmosphere is relaxed. Dogs are just as welcome as humans. The food is out of this world. They cook to order and accomodate requests. All the staff make you feel at home. Breakfast is amazing all food is sourced locally and freshly cooked. We have our evening meals there too and we are never disappointed. Its fair to say the food is some if not the best we ever have. The best way to find out is to go. If i could give this more than 5 i would.

Have been here a few times and must say have never been disappointed. The place itself is set in a lovely position. Able to sit outside if weather is good. Food is delicious-weather it's a sandwich, Sunday lunch or meal on an evenin. A must if you are in the area

Searched the internet for a dog friendly place to stay and wow did we hit the jackpot with Ash Cottage. The cottage is so quaint and comfortable and, as for the Board Inn, we can't rate it high enough. The food is exceptional and the owners and staff are very friendly. We, and that includes our dog, were made to feel very welcome. Thank you for a lovely couple of days. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I stayed at Ash Cottage over the weekend of the 2nd May 14 on a motorbike trip with friends. The cottage has 3 bedrooms with en-suite facilities, it is spacious and well kept with everything you would expect to hand. On our arrival late on a cold Friday evening we were met by the owner who showed us where we could park our machines prior to changing for a meal in the pub. The meals, including breakfasts were excellent and all the staff were always friendly and attentive. This was a very enjoyable stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Board Inn to anyone.

We've stayed at the Board on several occasions over the last couple of years and have enjoyed it every time, such that going anywhere else for a short break anywhere else in and around the Moors these days isn't even considered.

Karen, Alastair and their team are all fabulous and nothing is ever too much trouble.

The food is simply devine, fresh local ingredients utilised to their best, always cooked to perfection. Service is excellent, but done in an unpretentious way that completely suits the character of the the pub, village and surrounding area. Make sure you leave room for pudding or cheese board...not easy given the usual portion sizes!!

Locals and regular visitors always make for a wonderful evening of conversation.

Looking forward to our impending next visit!
