Just arrived home after a couple of nights staying at the farm, we have had a great stay, Jane was very friendly and helpful and our room was very clean and modern with a kettle and refreshments (including fresh milk daily), on arrival Jane made us drinks and gave us home made biscuits which were delicious, our 2 children loved going to say hello to the cows and the views from our bedroom window were amazing. We visited Whitby and Scarborough whilst we were there and also went to Goathland (to go to the Goathland hotel, aka Aidensfield Arms in Heartbeat), as expected the roads around farm area are small country roads and the sheep like to share the roads with the traffic but to us that was part of the experience. There is a bakery in Danby and plenty of pubs dotted here and there that you can drive to, there is a co op in castleton if you require anything. The room in which we stayed had a very comfortable double bed and a single bed and camp bed for our 2 children, we had a shower and toilet within our room which were spotless and there was shower gel, handwash provided as well as towels, hair dryers, alarm clock, and a spare blanket tucked in the wardrobe for if you should need one (in our case we were fine). The breakfast was delicious, Jane asked what time we would like it on the morning and asked exactly what we would like, there was plenty of choice of cereal, orange juice and cooked breakfast, toast and jams. I would recommend Furnace farm to familes and couples alike and would not hesitate in staying there again :-)

Furnace Farm is a wonderful place to stay with two large rooms serving families or single people alike. We have stayed there on several occasions over the last few years and have always enjoyed a warm welcome from the owners Peter & Jane, their family and new collie Bailey! We are hoping to arrange to stay in the self catering cottage also on the farm at some point which we have yet had the pleasure of. The gardens are peaceful to sit in, surrounded by good views of the North Yorkshire Moors countryside. Breakfast is an absolute treat cooked to perfection by Jane. The cottage is situated in the middle of The Moors with easy access to Whitby, Scarborough and the village of Goathland, featured as Aidensfield in Heartbeat. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is also close by and is like stepping back in time. We are planning another visit next year and would thoroughly recommend it for a short or long stay.

We found this B&B while struggling to find anywhere to accept young children! This lovely B&B has 2 large rooms with private bathrooms. There was also a 3 bed cottage available for hire. We went for a family room containing a double bed and child bed. The other room I believe houses up to 3 adults. On arrival we had a snack waiting for us. The service was excellent, with breakfast cooked to suit our requirements (eg cooked English, porridge etc). The location was around 14 miles from Whitby so a bit of driving as you'd expect in the country. It was around 2 miles from the North Moors Centre, and also close to a village called Danby which had a great bakery and cafe! It was also easy to get to the steam railway which our little girl loved. The only thing missing was a full sized shower, but that was no big deal. The beds were comfortable and the room decor modern and attractive. Our little girl loved saying hello to the cows every day! I would recommend this B&B for couples and families. Thanks for a lovely break, we would recommend to anyone.
