We just stayed at he Woodside for one night on the Saturday of the May bank holiday weekend. Everywhere else push the prices up and/or insist on a minimum of 2 nights stay but not here. It is a bit old fashioned and quirky and could do with a makeover so don't expect 5 star luxury or anything and you won't be disappointed. If you want 5 star luxury go to the nearby Dunblane Hydro but expect to pay 3 times the price or more but you won't get the same genuine hospitality. Rooms are pretty basic but are clean and have everything you need for a short stay. We ate out (L'Angelino) as hotel meals are served in the hotel lounge so are more like pub grub but the menu and prices looked good and the place was busy when we headed out so i am sure it is very good if you don't want a proper restaurant meal. The full English (or Scottish) breakfast was excellent and well presented. The hotel owners and staff are really friendly and down to earth which makes a real difference to more expensive places. The hotel does have free wifi in the lounge area and the bar prices are very reasonable. The hotel is only a few minutes walk away from the Main Street in Doune but there isn't too much to see there. Doune Ponds is a quiet wooded area with nice walks and picnic areas and only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. We also visited Doune Castle (£5.50 entry for each adult at May 2013) which is walkable from the hotel or a couple of minutes drive away (with free parking). I would recommend a visit to the castle as its not expensive and the commentary (by Terry Jones of Monty Python fame, Life of Brian was filmed here in 1975 I think) with the included headset is very interesting (can be done in 1 hour so not boring). I give the hotel an excellent rating based on price, friendliness and cleanliness and would happily return.

After we visited this Hotel for a Groupon voucher meal, which we thouroughly enjoyed, we returned for their advertised 'Sunday Lunch' and were not disappointed, the meal was delightful, and plenty of it, with good, friendly service, the Woodside is certainly on our 'Recommended' list.

We booked a lunch at the woodside using a Groupon voucher. We had an excellent meal with plenty of choices. We would go back and pay the full price as it was value for money. The staff were very welcoming and the service was good

We took a deal up with groupon for a two-course meal for 2 at the Woodside Hotel. We received a lovely welcome and had a really nice chat with the woman (sorry I didn't get her name) before we had our meal. The meal was lovely presented and very tasty. I would highly recommend this Hotel and we shall be back.
