“Lovely B&B in Matakana”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

My husband and I had a lovely stay in the "Writing Room" at Matakana Castle B&B in January 2014. Nat and John were wonderful hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting to them both. We particularly liked the complementary wine/juice and cheese platter, the cookies and local chocolates, together with the delicious 2 course breakfast. Highly recommended for a relaxing time away in the Matakana region. Thanks Nat and John!

Room Tip: The Writing Room had a lovely outlook over the lawn and bay

Thankyou for your review, I know how hard it is to find time with a new baby around. I'm glad that you enjoyed a couple of days of relaxation before the big day, hope everything is going well. Thanks John and Nat.

Wow, what a beautiful B&B - the view from the front door / living room is absolutely fantastic! We had a great time - only regret that we stayed only one night. This B&B should have a minimum stay policy of at least 7 days! It is that good - it is a 'crime' to stay any shorter.

We stayed in the garden room with our daughter - who had a fantastic time playing in the garden with your very well behaved daughter.

Wonderful breakfast with the best ever French toast!

We almost did not stay as they do not yet have online booking - so glad we emailed Nat and got a quick response.

Thanks for a fantastic time Nat and John - all the best for this business venture. Andre, Elma and Taryn

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden room which had a great view and was big enough for 2 adults and our daughter...

What a fantastic review, many thanks. We only met you briefly but we really enjoyed your company and the stories about some of your travels around New Zealand, your enthusiasm was infectious.
Hopefully our on line booking engine will be installed next week, our next step.

My partner and I enjoyed an exclusive luxury two night stay in the Tower Suite early in January 2014. On arrival we were greeted at the door by our host and made to feel very welcome before being shown to our spacious upstairs room. Locally made chocolates and biscuits, fresh white linen and bathrobes added to the sense that Natalie and John really know how to make their guests feel special. While enjoying beautifully presented canapes and local wine in the evening we loved the opportunity to talk with our hosts and share our stories. Waking up each morning to stunning ocean views and the peaceful sounds of the Matakana countryside gave us the chance to unwind, relax and appreciate a wonderful holiday. This is a perfectly appointed luxury hideaway for couples looking to reconnect. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Tower Suite is the largest room with the best view and use of the balcony

We really enjoyed a night at the Matakana Castle over the new year. The room was lovely, the views stunning and we really enjoyed the friendly and helpful hosting, as well as all the extra little touches like wine and nibbles in the evening and the delicious breakfast was fantastic. We would definitely recommend. Thank you Natalie and John.

Room Tip: All the rooms have the same beautiful view.

My Husband recently spent our anniversary at Matakana Castle for two nights. We had an amazing time and would not hesitate to recommend this spot to people. The location is great, the Castle has lots of atmosphere, beautiful views and the rooms are very well appointed with lots of special little touches. Like cookies and chocolates. There is also lots of information scattered throughout the B&B telling you about things to do etc. The breakfast was delicious. So definitely pick this one if you want a memorable stay. Natalie and John are great hosts.
We will be back.

My partner and I enjoyed a night at Matakana Castle a few weeks ago. Not only is the setting stunning but the room was set up very beautifully with all the finishing touches right down to the gluten free cookies. Of course no place is complete without the hospitality of the owners and Nat and John really do make the place, are genuinely interested and very welcoming. Their breakfast is delicious and staying one night really wasn't enough but a lovely taster for when we return one day! Thanks Nat and John for creating such a wonderful environment to stop and take some time out from the busy lives we lead! All the best, Vanessa & Grant

My husband and I stayed in the Tower Suite for a night recently. The whole place is stunning. The room was beautiful and everything felt very luxurious! The view was amazing of rolling hills and water. We had the two course breakfast which was delicious. It was a fleeting visit for us but was a fairy tale end to our wedding and we hope to one day make it back.
