“Favorite thing we did in Morocco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

We had a wonderful time with Jamal on our Berber travel adventure. Started in the market in Amizmiz which was a really cool local market. Then did a hike through 2 or 3 villages, one of which was stunningly beautiful from the mountain top. The hike was fast-paced and good exercise, but nothing too crazy. Stopped for a delightful Tagine lunch on the way at a village home. Learned a lot about the environment and culture. For example, I was surprised to learn that there used to be a Jewish community in the village in the Atlas mountains. Overall great! I didn't love Marrakech the city, but this tour made me glad I went to Morocco.

“The highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

We did the moderate walking tour of the atlas mountains and were lucky enough to catch the Tuesday market in amizmiz in the morning. We cannot recommend this highly enough, Jamal was thoroughly engaging and the perfect host and we really enjoyed the company of Mohammed and his donkey. The home cooked meal in the home of a berber family was easily the best meal of our trip. This is a must do trip as far as we are concerned.

“Two fantastic days walking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

We booked two 'strenuous' days walking (coming from and back to Marrakech each time). Both were absolutely wonderful: the scenery, the visits to the Berber houses, the food and the overall experience. We covered about 17 km each day, with an altitude gain of about 400m. It was quite energetic, but comfortable. On one day we had Nordi as a guide, on the other day, Jamal (the owner). Both were extremely helpful, friendly and interesting. The taxi transfers to and from Marrakech also worked very well, with a lovely, chatty driver. We were doing individual days this time because we had my mother walking with us (and my father back in Marrakech); but another time we would love to come back and do a longer trek wit Jamal.

“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

We booked a three-day trek, the highlight being Mount Toubkal. The hike was challenging but very rewarding, and we had a very pleasant experience of the Berber life. Our guides, Jamal and Nouredine, were extremely friendly, helpful and professional... they were amazing.

I highly recommend Berber Travel Adventures if you want to experience a genuine cultural trip led by dedicated tour guides.

“Highlight of our Trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

We cannot say enough good things about our experience. We did the weekly market tour, which included a tour of the weekly Berber market in Amizmiz followed by a relatively easy hike (1.5 hours, hot but not strenuous otherwise), lunch at the home of a Berber family (delicious food with a great view!), and then a hike back. Our guide (born and raised in the mountains) was amazing. Not only was his English perfect but his photography skills were basically professional - the photos he gladly took of us throughout the trip were the best we got of ourselves during our entire 2 week honeymoon. He was also extremely prepared - I was sniffly, he whipped out tissues, we didn't bring enough water, he had extra at the ready, I stupidly forgot a hat, he tied my scarf around my head expertly to provide me shade.
