“Highly recommended, very special and planed resort.”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

My wife and I went on a vacation with our two little boys (2.8 years and 7 months) in La Maquise on August 19th-23rd, after highly recommendations from our friends who went there twice. We booked our accommodation via the hotel's web site, very easy and friendly online form, we chose the luxury guest room for our stay.
After one hour flight we got into our rented car and drove about 20 minutes on a very simple route and got to the resort.
We kindly welcomed by the Israeli receptionist Meytal who told us that we were upgrated to the bungalow with private pool room.
The bellboy took us to our room with a club car and when we got into the room we were amazed by the luxury of the room and its highly finishing level. This is the first time I'm in a hotel the every button function.
The room is located on a quiet place in the resort, very clean and large.

The next 4 days were absolutely enjoyable for us and especially for our kids.
The kiddy pool is very nice, but the main pool is the most impressive one with complex of lagre pools, linked one to another, I've never seen such a load of water.

The food is excellent and the crew is very nice.
The bellboys George and Michael are very kind and friendly.

Thank you! :)

We will, with no doubt, recommend this hotel to our friends and surely come back someday to a future vacation.

Room Tip: Bungalows rooms!!

we went through Thomson to book this all inclusive holiday. we stayed here for a week and we did have a very nice time however I only really saw 5* in the lobby and entrance. very nice atmosphere.no nonsense. staff need some direction on 5* service.
there was nothing bad as such and there was nothing of excellence.
we are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers so the family room was great, food was ok but got quite boring after a week. getting water and coffee was very hard work!!!! a very rare commodity.!!!!
weather great, pools great, beach great, getting a lounger easy.
biggest downfall was the service....waiting far longer than necessary to be served drinks when there was nobody at the bar, sitting customers orders taking priority,or was it paying customers as our rep told us that it isnt really an all inclusive hotel (so i dont know why they are selling the product) but i do know at 3 to 4 euros a drink why paying customers may take priority! i found this very frustrating. wifi was almost non existent in the lobby which is only place to get it,2 teens not impressed . teenagers club was unmanaged and only time my 2 went they said there were parents and young children so they never returned. air conditioning was absolutely terrible, it did get temp down by morning when it was time to wake after trying to sleep on the twin bed ,hard pillow, noisy aircon and flashing smoke alarm above head. only tv channel was news or hire a film for 10 euro. bit steep for something they could/should be supplying for a 5* complex. i reckon lovely place for younger families who want to go to bed at 8. i would recommend to others esp younger families but i wont be returning .

Room Tip: pool view ( ground floor) easier to access from pools and safer for young children. very quiet in...

Dear valued guest,
We would like to thank you for having taken the time to write a review about your recent holidays at La Marquise Hotel online. We are pleased that overall you had a very nice time, although we couldn’t meet your expectations. From what we understood from your comments, the biggest downfall by your opinion was the staff service, and we certainly take into consideration your remarks, while these help us to identify any issue and improve always our product.
However, the response your REP agent gave you for the hotel taking priority from paying customers has truly perplexed us for two reasons: 1) it appears that the REP is not aware of the hotel and the way it functions and 2) no one can distinguish which guests are and which are not All Inclusive quite simply because we don’t use bracelets, and this for obvious reasons.
Concerning the hard pillow, the noisy air-conditioned and the flashing smoke alarm, allow us to inform you that we could have fixed the air-conditioned if you would have informed the maintenance, and changed your pillows if you had asked for, but we definitely cannot cancel the flashing smoke alarm because this is the only way we can guaranty your safety.
Finally, we are deeply sorry that you pre-decided not to return mainly for speed service matters since these could be corrected very easily.
With respect,

Excellent hotel. Great facilities.

It would be better though to actually put things in the mini bar.
More parking spaces closer to the actual rooms would definetely be a plus.
I also feel that the beach area in front of the hotel needs more improvement.

Amazing service and quality from the wellness spa personnel.
Treatmemts are suberb. Additional praises to the efficiency with which the staff handles the workload of the facilities (spa, pool, gym) always with a smile and always the customer's satisfaction in mind.

Highly recommended. If you happen to visit dont miss the opportunity to experience this.

We stayed at La Marquise for 2 weeks in July. Our mood was a bit low at the beginning because of some issues, however we managed to make the best of it, so we did enjoy the second week, mostly because of the staff.

Staff are truly fabulous with many sparkling gems. Nikos at the main rest. and Dimitris at the pool rest/a la carte rest. are AMAZING, they know their job incredibly well and can deal with everything. Voula and Konstantina are very nice and always smiling, Despina at the Lobby bar makes perfect Greek coffee, Alexandra and Georgia at the pool rest. are super-efficient and very professional. All these people just made our stay, many thanks for that.

The hotel itself is also superb, sleek and new, with lovely decor and low-noise air conditioning, that I really appreciate. A la carte restaurant is also very nice, with some delicious dishes.

Room for improvements:
1. The swimming pools are very shallow, 1.05-1.10 almost everywhere, that means you have to kneel when in the water and can't have a proper dip. It might be good for families with toddlers and little kids but surely not for older kids or grown-ups. In the Palladium across the road they have a smaller however much deeper pool (1.0-2.5!), much more convenient for good swimmers. Could you make it deeper please??

2. Spa: I had a poor treatment, unfortunately, so it was my first and the last visit. They put me first in the Jacuzzi bath (complementary!), turned the lights off and left me there for 30 min. without assistance, so the water got cold and so did I, I could not turn the motor off as the automatic panel was out of reach, and I also could not leave the bath as it was dark, and the floor was slippery. I was freezing and crying out loud for help. Then the masseuse came, she eventually helped me out. Then the mud was applied on my body, she sent me to the common sauna for 20 min. It was pretty appalling as I was all dirty and ashamed of myself, having to share the same sauna with other people. Then I had to use the shower, again in the common area, even though they had a cubicle in every treatment room. At the end, I had my massage for 20 min, rather poorly done. Was not worth the time wasted. Not recommended!

3. Food in the main restaurant.
Breakfast: I believe for a 5* hotel it's important to have an egg station and a waffles/pancake station - not the case, unfortunately. They did have pre-cooked omelette, but it was chewy and inedible, and so did the waffles - not crunchy, just chewy. Early in the morning you could get some proper bacon, but after 9am it was just processed pork (sort of fried luncheon meat or Spam).
Plates were often not clean enough, and sometimes extremely hot, I nearly burned my fingers once.
I also believe a kid station for lunch/dinner, offering all the kids favorites, i.e. plain pasta, sausages, nuggets, fish fingers and chips, all in the same place, would be a huge advantage. The kids wouldn't have to open all the lids looking for their food and then leave it open.

4. Sleep quality:
Many people have mentioned the twin beds, not very nice having your husband slipping away with his bed in the middle of the night! Pillows are extremely hard, perhaps made of foam, not comfortable at all, had to use my towel instead, and mattresses are even harder, causing backache.

Having said that, I think that promoting this hotel as a 4* all inclusive would be fairer and would make the place fuller for longer. There is a long way to go if they want to make the place a real 5* establishment, I'm afraid.

Dear valued guest,
First and foremost allow us to thank you for having chosen “La Marquise Hotel” to spend your holiday and for taking the time to write your impressions on Trip Advisor.
While we note with pleasure that overall you enjoyed your stay, we were quite surprised by your remark with the Spa. We informed directly the spa responsible and although he didn’t agree with all the points raised, we may assure you we have been taken into consideration your comments and will certainly take the necessary measures to improve our services.
We also have noted your remarks concerning the sleep and food quality, and we thank you for having informed us, however your suggestion of promoting our hotel as a 4* all inclusive in order to make the place fuller for longer is not our target. On the contrary, our main goal is quality clients with a right volume, and we are working on it. It is very rare a new hotel to success its targets 100% from the beginning of its operation, and personally we believe we will achieve ours from year to year.
Thank you once again for your appreciative comments, which we will certainly pass on our staff, as it motivates them a lot to achieve and maintain the highest standards of service in order to satisfy all our guests’ expectations, even our most demanding ones.
With all our respect,

This hotel is in it's second season having been rebuilt, and is therefore in superb condition. We couldn't believe how amazing it looked as we rolled up at night. Others on the coach were obviously impressed too judging by the comments we heard.
Staff are the friendliest, most polite and courteous people we have ever met - especially in the Da Vinci restuarant, where the food was first class. Different themes from night to night and they will even provide chicken nuggets as a special order free of charge if you have a fussy eater.
The pools were the best we have ever encountered, and even though the hotel was full were never crowded. Perfect for adults and our 7 year old too. And not over chlorinated like many.
The hotel also has its own private beach with free sunbeds and a private tunnel to reach it.

All in all, a brilliant holiday.

Have just returned from the La Marquise after a fortnight holiday. If you are looking for a truly lovely hotel with excellent staff who cannot do enough for you and excellent food well prepared and displayed, choose the La Marquise. Unfortunately my husband had to be in a wheelchair for the duration of the holiday; but the ramps enabled us to get around the hotel grounds easily and doors into the rooms and en suite bathrooms were very wide ( the separate toilet with a wheelchair was not possible in the room we were allocated; buit they may well have fully accessible rooms). Everything in the resort is easily within walking distance; but there are golf type buggies with staff who are only too willing to ferry you around (including wheelchair!!) Special thanks go to the staff from the restaurant - Nikos, Konstantina, Voula, Sotiris; Porters/Bell Men - George, Babis, Giannis; Bar staff - Theano, Aphrodite, Irina, Paula and the reception staff especially Nikol. (I'm sure I've missed some I should have mentioned). Have definite plans to return!!

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet, go for Block 4000. If you have a wheelchair, ask for a ground floor roo...

My wife and I spent 10 days at La Marquise for our honeymoon. First impressions were great, complimentary spumante in the room, fresh fruit and even a few sandwiches. The staff were really great, in particular Nikos at the pool bar along with dimitris and big george, in the restaurant evagelia was a stand out, really first class.

Our room was very comfortable, although my wife found the numerous night lights in the room and the flashing smoke detector irritating. The whole complex is tasteful, feels luxurious, and is very new. The main lobby and bars in the hotel (both rooftop and crystal) were really excellent.

The beach was clean and felt roomy when say compared to cote d'azur or SanRemo and Friday (the young lady who worked at the beach bar there was very friendly and courteous).

The layout of the hotel is really fantastic, it really doesnt feel crowded, the interlinked pools are a great idea, and we felt very lucky when looking at the Palladium and louis collosus, both high rise hotels near us. Rhodes itself was ok but in my opinion not as nice as Corfu or Crete.

Ok, so far so good. Gripes?

Well on many levels this hotel is five star, the service and layout feels like you are staying somewhere special.

For me though, the food was not. It was largely bland and very pork and shellfish heavy which severly limited my options (I keep kosher and was surprised that the hotel didnt have more choices given the amount of Israeli's staying at the hotel). The food that i could eat was quite samey and really nothing special. I have eaten much better in a small 2 star i stayed at in Strasbourg. Also the food at the pool bar was not great, we decided to pay for a lunch there as we got a bit bored of the al-inclusive buffet one lunch and i had a margarita pizza that was clearly of the budget frozen variety.

in terms of all-inclusive it was adequate, nikos mixes a mean seabreeze but the vap beer was poor (mythos should be on the all inclusive menu).

All in all, this is a great place for a relaxing break, the term 5 star though is losing its meaning if you put this hotel in the same bracket as say the four-seasons in Prague or the Connaught in London. Simply no comparison.

So to sum up: first class service, lovely ambience, great decor and five star layout. Poor food and certain features in the room such as plastic shower curtains and cheap complimentary products make this a four star to my eyes.

We had a great time though.
