La Marquise Luxury Resort Complex
Ranked #2 of 20 Hotels in Kallithea
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 7 December 2013

I stayed at La Marquise Hotel on a family vacation in September 2013.
The hotel is defined as a 5-star resort which is very suitable for families.
It lies on the eastern side of the island of Rhodes about a half hour drive from the airport of the island of Rhodes and within 5-10 minutes walk from the Kallithea beach and a half hour drive from the Old Town of Rhodes . There is a bus to Rhodes town just opposite the hotel.
The complex includes the main building where are part of the rooms , dining room , lobby bar, reception desk , a souvenir and grocery shop . There is also a car rental office where we received wonderful service recommendations for sightseeing and good directions to the various sites on the island. In this building are also spa facilities and another pool on the roof.
The swimming pool is at a height of 1.05 meters and winds around the other rooms. Some of the rooms around the pool are located on the ground floor and have gardens linked (These rooms are highly recommended and should be ordered in advance) with sun beds and umbrellas. The poolside snack bar is located in the center of the area. The hotel has a children's playroom and playground adjacent to the babies' pool. Another activity room is designed for the youth, there is also a tennis court, basketball court and mini golf.
The hotel is a 3 minute drive from the "Faliraki Water Park".
Level of cleanliness in public areas and at the hotel rooms is very high. Related maintenance rooms have a little more careful, even though we did not find significant fault.
Our room was located in the main building and the balcony of the room turned towards the courtyard, pool and the beach. The room has a pleasant design and included children's bedroom and master bedroom. Between the two spaces is the bathroom. The room was equipped with two televisions with a selection of channels, Kettle and coffee set, and a safe.
The indoor dining room also has offers an outdoor seating. Breakfast and dinner were served a great variety of dishes and some evenings were themed. Meals are served at lunch counters and there are periods of time in which clutter the dining room is long and take this into account. Food is divided into two identical buffets but there is no special buffet for children. You can ask for special dishes like French fries for kids from one of the waiters but you will have to wait patiently for the dish. Please note that men must wear long pants for dinner.
In the evening there is entertainment activity in the lobby of a local band or a pianist for example. The service at reception was very efficient patient and kind.
In conclusion Hotel La Marquise is a quality luxurious hotel with good location and is highly recommended

Room Tip: Book the Luxury rooms near the pool or ask for the pool view rooms at the main building

We stayed in the quiet adults only section of the hotel, which had its own bar and several pools. I would recommend this area if staying without children, as the family areas were definitely busier and a little noisy, as you'd expect.

The food was excellent, with a huge selection to choose from for both breakfast and dinner. The evening and breakfast meals are self service from a buffet, but some dishes, eg steak, were cooked to order in front of you while you waited. As with many 5 star hotels, men must wear trousers to dinner, as shorts etc are not allowed, and they will turn you away.

The apartment was fantastic, finished to a very high standard and definitely had a 5 star feel. The bathroom was bigger than some hotel rooms I've stayed in and had a separate bath and shower. The room included a good size TV, air con which was refreshing in the heat, and a free safe.

There is a bus service at the end of the driveway that will take you to Rhodes town for around €3 each way, however you could quite happily never leave the hotel your entire stay. If planning on eating out, a bus to Rhodes town is the way to go, as there are very few local restaurants. There is a small shop onsite that sells food, drink, newspapers and stamps etc.

Don't be put off by the closeness to Faliraki. This hotel is very private and quiet, and nowhere near any wild nightlife.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, and I would highly recommend it.

We generally struggle to travel as a family as we are a group of 9 people - all of whom are vegetarians that do not eat meat (obviously), fish or eggs - we don't even drink alcohol (how boring are we?!?!?!). I wanted to make sure that if we booked an all inclusive package, there would be an option for us at every meal sitting (including something the kids would eat). Before I booked at La Marquise, I sent a couple of emails asking whether they could cater for guests with our diet - I received a prompt reply reassuring me that everything would be OK. Even after receiving this response I was still a bit worried, but I booked anyway! I went for the all inclusive no worries package and it was worth every penny!

The staff at the hotel bent over backwards to ensure that our dietary requirements were met. Each day the restaurant management staff (usually Nickos) would greet us with a big smile and welcome us to our table. They would find dishes for us that we were allowed to eat and also asked the chefs to prepare special dishes to make sure we had enough to eat for the three daily meals the whole week we were there. They made things for the kids too (e.g. spaghetti). Some of the staff even called us "La Familia", which was cool... it made me feel like the vegetarian godfather :)

We can't thank the Da Vinci restaurant staff enough for the lengths they went to, to make our stay at La Marquise a holiday we will never forget. Special thanks have to go to Nickos & Voula (for doing everything they could to ensure we were happy), Dimitris & Nelu (for serving us with a smile) and chef (for making delicious food)!

We even went for the Gandola meal, where the chefs there also ensured the menu suited our dietary requirements.

So the food and service were excellent. How about the rest of it?

When we first rocked up in our lovely blue Thomson coach at midnight after a tiring day of travelling, our jaws dropped. The hotel looked amazing. It looked even more amazing the next day when we woke up.

The pool at the hotel was great... you can easily stand in it (unless you are really short) and it makes up a bit of a maze that runs through the hotel; meaning the pool is massive. We even played water polo a few times with around 20 other guests - great fun. Because there are only a few floors for each block of rooms, there is no problem at all getting sun beds near your room.

What else? Did I mention the food and service were good?

The porters will let you jump on the golf buggies (not literally) to transport you to and from your room, to the main hotel (if you are lazy) and to the beach. The beach isn't the best I have ever been to, but it is decent enough (it has some sand, some sea and some pebbles). They have some good water sport facilities there - a few of us went on a banana boat safari that was good.

There is a water park that is about a 10 minute walk up the road and a taxi rank next to it that is about 5mins walk from the hotel. Shops are just beyond the water park entrance, but the shop inside the hotel itself had everything we needed.

The WiFi wasn't very good, but I refuse to mark La Marquise down on that - if you're really that bothered about having access to the web while you are away on holiday, then you need to get a life.

If I was to go to Rhodes again, I would most definitely book at La Marquise. I would highly recommend it!

Did I mention about the food and service? IT WAS GOOD!

After making a thorough research which hotel to choose in Rhodes, read the reviews here in Trip Advisor and decided to order a room. We were a couple and ordered the Luxury room. Upon arrival, after a short ride from the airport we found out that we were upgraded to a Junior suite in the adults only area!
The resort is beautiful, with many lawns, clean and spacious. The room was without a flaw, first floor, just beside the pool, new, clean and modern.
The pool was a bit chilly, and during our 4 days stay we almost didn't see anyone swimming. The alternative was to go to the beach, which is just a few minutes walking and if you don't feel like it, the hotel staff will gladly give you a ride in one of their golf carts.
The staff was very nice and polite, although we didn't have many problems and interaction with them. We were staying on a B&B basis and decided to try the dinner upon arrival (40 euros per person). I know that most of the reviews here say that the food was very good, but we didn't like it and definitely had better ones in other 5 starred hotels in which we've stayed. Also, for this price it is better to dine in Rhodes. The breakfast, however, was great with big variety!

Room Tip: Request a ground floor room, beside the pool.

Stayed there for 9 nights in Oct. Truly amazing location. Excellent weather, very well maintained and as a result looks like recently open-you can trust official photos at their website. Transfer from the airport takes only about 20min. Lovely, tidy rooms and great hotel's main building. True that it's hard to get served by the Crystal bar but only because you're served by waiters at the table! The staff is excellent! So is food and the a la carte restaurant not to be missed-should have a Michelin star. Overall we also enjoyed hotel entertainment apart singing man on Thursday evening-plays really nice but shouldn't sing :) .Do recommend 'Two and a half cities' excursion (Lindos, Rhodes and acropolis).
To sum up: great weather, beautiful island, real 5* hotel with friendly staff and great location.

Room Tip: The resort has 'Adults area only' for those who wish to have some rest from kids but all roo...

This is the first time we have been to an All-inclusive in Europe and it was a very pleasant surprise. We found the food and the restaurant staff to be excellent and professionally lead by the manager Nickos Sfakianakis. We had 2 ground floor pool rooms and one upper level pool room ( large family group)and given the choice again would recommend the ground floor pool room every time. The rooms were well presented and clean, except one room had a damp smell that was difficult to mask. The drinks were local and the bar staff were always there to refill you glass. The beach across a busy road is not good and worth a short cab ride into Falaraki – but to be honest, the pool was far more inviting.
We have discussed the option of coming back again and the answer is “yes” but make sure you are not counting the calories. The patisserie chef is first class and we just could not resist piling up our plates every lunch time and dinner time. We would also like to mention Alex the kebab man – our children put his kebabs up there as the best they have ever tasted (which is some recommendation). The others needing mentioning as exceptional service are Diamantis, Katerina , Nelu and Vasilis –
Many thanks for making our holiday a memorable one.

My partner and I stayed for a week in September, sorry that I've only just got round to this review. From the minute we walked in we were blown away by the amazing surroundings and beautiful decor. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and really gave the impression they loved their jobs. We had booked a junior poolside suite in the adult only area and were delighted with our choice, the pool was a little chilly as others have mentioned but I still swam most days and it was refreshing to cool down from the heat. We were all inclusive and the selection of food and drinks was very varied and excellent quality. We ate in the a la carte restaurants where the service and food was top quality, my only slight criticism there would be that the menu choice was a bit limited. But with regard to the main buffet food, the variety and quality was amazing and we ate far too much!
We found the bar staff very efficient and soon remembered our drinks, even at very busy periods. The beach wasn't great but the pool area was so beautiful and relaxing that we didn't feel the need to go far!
The room was beautiful and spacious (only problem was the bed was two singles pushed together and kept parting in the night!), bathroom was luxurious and spotlessly clean.
All in all it was a fabulous holiday and we would definitely recommend it and hope to return one day. A huge thanks to the management and staff for all their hard work!
