We all read the reviews for the bad points dont we?! I do! Well there arent any! Ive tried to think of something for you but there just arent any! Just spent 1 week all inclusive at this hotel with my husband and we had a perfect time. Its kind of 2 hotels in 1 but theres no divide. The brochure mentions sister hotel and i expected the other to be over the road and up a hill (me - negative? - never!) but they are both on the same complex and you can freely use any part of the 1 large site. Plenty of pools to choose from. Plenty of food and drink. Extensive food choice at the 3 main meal times. Attentive waiters. Large restaurants. Good evening entertainment. Choice of 3 bars for your night time entertainment. One is more for families if you have younger children (or one to avoid if you dont have kids!). Play areas for kids. Good sports facilities. Mini bus to take you around the complex if you so wish (yes, its big, but not so a person of average fitness will need the bus for). Private beach area for hotel guests. Shingle. Oooh I might have thought of something mildly bad.... beach area (beds and beach bar) not included in your "all inclusive". But prices are reasonable and like i said - plenty of pools to choose from. Well kept hotel grounds and gardens. Bedrooms are spotlessly clean. Cleaned daily. We stayed in a superior room which came with a safe for your small personal items. Good water pressure in the shower. Mixer taps. Good hairdryer. I was worried about having to rely on it but shouldnt have been. Settings of 1200, 600 or cool. Not as powerful as my 2000 hairdryer at home but it did the job just fine. 2 electric shaver sockets. Plenty of drawer and wardrobe space, hangers supplied. Large bed. (2 singles pushed together but you can never tell as they put a mattress topper over so you cant feel the join!). Great airconditioning in the room with multiple settings. Small fridge. TV and DVD player with remote controls. Clothes horse on the balcony! somewhere to hang your wet swimwear. Its the small things with me! ;-) Tea and coffee making facilities. Blackout curtains at the balcony doors to help you sleep past sun rise. Hotel reception staff spoke very good English and German had were very helpful and friendly. Shop in reception area sold same day newspapers from home. Bus-stops directly outside of hotel took you to either Falaraki or Rhodes Town. English speaking Chemist, a supermarket and a bar/restaurant showing sky sports 20 mins walk, or short bus ride away. Only local beers and spirits included in your all inclusive, but beer was good. Spirits not as strong as back home I dont think, but didnt bother me. All in all a lovely holiday and i genuinely cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: pay that little extra for a superior room and a sea view. It really is worth it.

My partner and I have just returned from a week stay at the Horizon Hotel. This was our first time at an all inclusive hotel and I think its safe to say we will never look back!
As some have mentioned the hotel itself is linked with the Mare Palace hotel and situated on a large complex.
The rooms are contained as small blocks of 3 floors and we accommodated 343 on the ground floor and had a terrace rather than balcony. The room was basic but huge with a good size bathroom- For any girls I would recommend you bring your own hairdryer, I was aiming to pack
light but the hotel hair dryer was useless and I ended up just letting the wind do the work.

We found the size of the complex to actually be of benefit and felt that we had much more choice especially where entertainment was concerned.

The hotel offers a great choice of pools and whilst some have mentioned an issue with towels on sunbeds this only really seemed to be an issue at the main pool outside the Athena restaurant. For us it was a tough choice between the Mythos pool which was quieter and had a lovely refreshment bar and a larger pool located at the hotel reception- We found there to be sun beds free throughout the day.

We ate in the Athena restaurant for the whole duration, the buffet offers a good selection of fresh food- and I am a very fussy eater!
Fantastic selection of drinks including a good choice of cocktails. Bottles of wine and water can be taken from the fridge in the Athena restaurant but both of the other pools have drinks and snacks near by.

The entertainment was good on the whole we watched a fire breather, Tina Turner tribute, Greek dancers and the dream girls..the comedy show in the Safari bar was questionable but possibly more aimed at German guests.
We only ventured out twice in the week, once to the Water Park which is 20 Euros each. You can take the bus outside the hotel on the opposite side of the road for about 1.80 euros each and it takes about 10 mins max and is the second stop, its not the best water park out there but well worth a visit. The second trip out was to the old town again by bus, the bus stop directly outside the hotel..this was a bit further and the last stop on the route but at approx 3 euros pp you cant complain! The old town is a very pretty maze of cobble streets with a good selection of bars and cafes the old castle/fort was spectacular and made for some great photos. Buses run every 20mins from about 7:10am from what I recall
The reception desk were extremely helpful on answering any questions about buses/timings etc

The downsides, in reality very few and certainly nothing that spoiled the holiday. There is a slight whiff of sewage at the main pool and this seems to be mostly in the morning- our solution was to just use the other pools which were perfect.

A lack of info..we arrive at 11pm so didn't have a chance to get our bearings..we must have done atleast 5 laps of the complex before finally finding the reception desk- The arrows dont seem to point in the right direction! We didn't realise we could also have eaten in the Thalasso restaurant until the last night when we overheard another guest. Would have been good to have had an info pack in the room.

Its windy in the evening! not really an issue but worth knowing to pack appropriately

We have just returned from a wonderful 1 week all inclusive holiday at the Kalithea Horizon. The Horizon and the Mare make up a large complex, set in a stunning hillside location. This means that everything is quite spread out and paths between places are quite hilly. Personally, this didn't bother us, if anything we liked it as the grounds and scenery were lovely and it helped walk off some of the food and drink! For anyone who would struggle with this though, there is a minibus that runs between the beach and the rooms and if you call reception they will send a golf buggy to collect you and take you where you want to go.

Our room was a superior sea view room overlooking the pools at the Mythos bar and out to sea. It was very large, spotlessly clean and the air con was very powerful! The maids did a good job of cleaning the room daily and chaning the towels. There was a fridge in the room containing water, beer and soft drinks, although these were only replenished every few days, there were plenty of bottles of water available around the complex and you could take drinks back to your room.

We always chose the sunbeds around the Mythos bar and on the grassy area overlooking the sea, simply as these were the most convenient for our room. We never had a problem getting a sunbed at any time of day. The pools were a little chilly, but after toasting yourself all day this was actually quite refreshing! There were no lifeguards at any of the pools, but I can't recall ever having seen a pool lifeguard in a hotel! I also saw no evidence of any broken bones as a result of people slipping by the pool areas! We did visit the beach, but it was a bit gravelly and rocky for our liking, the water was very clear and good for snorkelling though, we just prefer a sandy beach!

The complex has quite a few optons for food - the Thalassa and Athena restaurants serve breakfast, which is a buffet of fruit, cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, pastries, pancakes, waffles, yogurts and cooked breakfast items. There is a lunch buffet at the Athena restaurant and snacks and cakes are served throughout the day in the numerous pool bars, with Delphina offering a table service. At night you again choose from the buffets at Thalass and Athena. We preferred Athena as it had a bit more atmoshpere and it was nice to sit outside by the sea. The food was a very good selection and high standard for all inclusive, we didn't feel bored after a week! The only slight disappointment was the a la carte - although the service was good and the setting pretty, the food was nothing special.

All the staff were very friendly and worked tirelessly. Nothing was too much trouble and the bar staff were literally serving as many people as they could at any one time! Consequently we never had a long wait for drinks. The wine wasn't great but the beer and cocktails were good.

Other than Kalithea Springs (worth a visit) there isn't really anything in walking distance of the hotel. As such, we decided to hire a car as this worked out more cost effective than the excurision and allowed us a bit more freedom to explore the island. Although there is bus service to Rhodes Town and Lindos, the buses were always packed and we were told the journey time to Lindos was an hour and a half. With the car we saw Lindos,Rhodes Town, Prassinissi, Kamiros, the butterfly valley and Tsambika beach. All of which were fantastic. Driving around the island was very easy and all the places we visited had free parking, so would definitely recommend car hire.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, this holiday didn't cost the earth, and I think that a few people could do to remember that when writing their reviews, particularly when criticising the food!

And for the record, no I don't eat at McDonalds and I have never stepped foot in a JD Sports!!

Room Tip: Superior room with sea view is definitely work the extra money. Also, if you have a late flight home, ask if you can extend your check out to 6pm - costs 25 euros extra, but worth every penny!!

We have just landed after another fabulous holiday at the Kalithea Horizon. The hotel is the best, very very friendly, kind, helpful, hard working and attentive staff, spotlessly clean, food in abundance, lots of choice, even for the fussiest of eaters, location views were heavenly. We arrived very late on the 25th August, and we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming reception staff, we were amazed that we had the same room as last year, ( i had requested the same block, I had not expected the same room!). We woke the next morning and it felt like we were home. The evening entertainment this year i felt was based towards a slightly older age group, as i was 60's and 70's, although us as a family we love this music, and boogied the night away. On the Greek night, some of the staff even joined in and performed. A tip for future traveller's, if you can tip the bar staff in evening, it does help the speed of service on following nights, and after all most people go here All inclusive, it doesn't hurt the pocket too much.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms have sea views, some face Rhodes others face Kalithea Spring, we personally prefer the Kalithea ones, near the Mythos pools, as they are a little quieter.

Having read previous reviews I was unsure what to expect. The hotel is fantastic, the staff are so hard working and friendly, the food is plentiful and the setting is truly amazing.
I went with my partner and three children aged 8, 11 and 19 years. We all thought this hotel was so brilliant. The room, hotel and grounds are spotless, the staff never stop cleaning, its so clean you could eat off the pavements.
The pool area is gorgeaous, we used the Mythos Bar and pool as it is quieter, the view is to die for and the beach may be small but its gorgeous and the water is crystal clear. None of us wanted to come home.
We had adjoining rooms, rroms 1012 and 785 which had the most amazing view which I still cannot get over it was fantastic. The rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were changed daily.
We ate at the Thalassa restaurant which is the best one for breakast and evening meals. Our waiter was Mikolas and he was attentive and polite and gave us great service.
The Athena restaurant is where we ate lunch and as some reviewers have said it can get busy and the food can be luke warm at times but it fine in the main. There is the occasion smell of sewage but it never spoilt anything and there were no flies or mosquitoes as mentioned by other guests.
At night we went to the main bar at the hotel mare and we then went to the safari bar as the kids loved it there. The animation team were great with the kids in particular Costas. The kids loved the dancing and the games.
Cleopatra who served the drinks was amazing, the fastest cocktail maker I have seen and the waiter Markos was brilliant, the kids and all the guests loved him. He is funny and attentive and my eldest daughter loved him.
We only stayed for a week and went to Kalithea Springs which is an amazing place, great views and lovely gardens and the little train to get there is great. We also went to Rhodes Town which is hot hot hot but has great shopping and gifts.
I had never been to Rhodes before but I will return it was fantastic, so beautiful, great people who work so hard. We all loved it and did not want to leave. We would definately go back to this hotel and to Rhodes. It is truly a beautiful place with lovely friendly people. Ignore the negative reviews they must have stayed at another hotel because we all loved it and willbe back to sunny Rhodes x

Room Tip: Just ask for a sea room but they all have them anyway.
