“So far all good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2012

My marketing team have orginized our annual Sales kick off for about 100 people at this hotel. Prior to arriving the business unit staff have been very professional and very helpful.

On arrival and inspection I have to say it is one of the best venues we have been at and we have been at a few. Public rooms are well laid out, spacious and light. Staff very helpful and attentive.

Food is to die and the menus choosen for us were interesting with good chioces for all tastes.

Bedrooms are great (just look at the picture). All in all I found the hotel to be of a high standard and well kept.

My ONLY GRIP is this technological age (I work for a software comapny) is the cost of Internet access. Marriott use iBAHN service and all rooms are hardwired. WIFI is available throughout the hotel but with internet charges at £6 an hour and £16 I will stick with my 3G dongle. Also to access WIFI you had to booked it on line (not enabled at reception). Not the end of the world but not convenient enough for me.

I can see this venue being on my shortlist for business and pleasure for sometime to come.

I stayed here a couple of years ago with my dad when our house had a gas explosion. We stayed in the hotel for a few months and its amazing! The rooms were pretty basic but really lovely, the staff were really nice and always wanted to help. We had breakfast every morning at the hotel and it was soooo good, waffles and made to order egg and fish. We were staying at the hotel the same time as the Women's England Football team. The grounds to the hotel are amazing and the other facilities are very enjoyable. Hope to go back their for a special occasion in the future.

I've stayed here a few times, because there are no other real options in the area. The place is a little tired, kind of a stretch to call this a full Marriott.

Here are some quick notes for anyone staying for the first time - hope they help.

- No wireless internet in rooms (lobby only) – poor WiFi coverage anywhere else on the main floor lobby area.
- After logging in to internet in room, it does not allow you to use a different wireless device (mobile) in the lobby. What year is it???
- Wired internet in room is very slow – can’t support Skype one-way video. Skype audio is distorted.
- No bottled water provided in rooms. Small bottle of water costs 2.40 pounds in bar
- No executive lounge (for people with Marriott status - but you do get a free breakfast)
- Parking prices are rediculous
- There is a securlity gate for getting in and out of the parking lot, but this is just silly. The exit code is available on a sign in the lobby or you can pick up a slip of paper with the exit code. Or you can just follow the car in front of you while exiting. Not sure why they don't just get rid of this - it's only making it harder for honest people.
- Great fitness centre
- Windows in room can be opened
- There are some good running trails around, but the staff doesn't know anything about them. Just ask them where the canal is - then run the canal as far as you want (assuming it's not raining).

Decided to book a relaxing weekend away courtesy of tesco. Using rewards vouchers booked 2 nights in this lovely hotel.

The room was large and lovely with a super comfy kingsize bed and every comfort you could wish for. Everything very clean and mugs for the tea and coffee not annoying little tea cups! Staff very friendly and helpful

Breakfast lovely with a great selection including if you wish omelettes cooked while you wait! Didn't eat an evening meal here as went out but menu looked lovely

Did not use spa but did use the swimming pool which again was clean and towels were provided. It was used by quite a lot of children which did not bother us but might bother some although we did go on Saturday afternoon so what can you expect?

Overall great hotel lovely building with friendly staff. Would definitely stay again and recommend to all!

Stayed here for 2 nights, the hotel is lovely. Our room was large and had a comfy kingsize bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, we have found sometimes breakfast at a Marriott Hotel can be a bit chaotic, but not here, it was relaxing and the food was kept topped up, not like in some hotels were you are kept waiting for them to bring out fresh food for the buffet, must just say the sausages were fantastic!!

We stayed here for one night only, for New Year. We chose the "Gourmet Meal" option and were slightly disappointed with the dining room as there were no table clothes and it had rather a "canteen" feel about it. We had previously looked in the Worsley Suite, which was used for the "Party" option and it was much more flamboyantly decorated. Our meal was good; if anything we were overfaced by the quantities on our plates, and the service was excellent, with iced water being poured regularly. If we had one complaint it was the price and the quality of the wine. We paid £25 for a very mediocre bottle of red wine, which tasted rather like Ribena. Also, the wine waiter tried to share out the whole bottle between the four of us and we had to ask him not to pour such large amounts into our glasses!
The entertainment was good and we enjoyed dancing to the live music and disco.
Our room was very comfortable and clean with ironing board, trouser press and room safe. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was lots of storage space for a longer stay. the hotel has a rural setting with a golf club and fitness/leisure centre.
I have stayed at a Marriot Hotel previously and would not hesitate to chose another one for a short break.

Stayed here several times on business and its a pretty good Marriott. Nice rooms, bar area and restaurant. Car park is to small and the spaces tight but other than that its pretty good.
