We had an excellent stay on Gloria, Great boat in very nice condition. Engine never skipped a beat. Beautiful part of the canal ( lock free ) up to Preston Brook. We can not wait to book another trip with Star, next time we shall try Queenie. Thanks again to Hester she really puts you at ease when teaching you manoeuvres etc. :) Highly recommend.

“So Good We Went Back”

It's rare that my husband and I revisit a holiday as there are so many places to explore. But there's something about Queenie, and Hester's management, that pulled us back three years later. Queenie is quite special. She's a two-berth that feels cosy and welcoming whilst being immaculately clean and modern. The bathroom is beautifully white and is as pristine as the kitchen. Very comfortable bed and well equipped throughout. Hester takes pride in her boats and the personal touch shows. We did a three night stay. No locks, just gentle travel with plenty of tranquility, wildlife, easy mooring and dog-friendly pubs along the way. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Thanks Sarah for your brilliant and kind review of your latest trip aboard 'Queenie'. Really good to see you both looking so fit and well and of course I loved meeting Ursu again (even if he did slightly ignore me). I hope lot's of people buy and read your book 'Ursu: Never give up a dog' and thanks for sharing your blog entry on our site. Always welcome back. Hester xx

We recently had a 4 night stop on board the lovely Queenie. What a great experience. Let me say that I have never taken so many photographs in my life the scenery was so stunning. After the boat lesson which Hester explained brilliantly, we stopped at the beautiful leafy Worsley with the lovely famous Packet House there. Then we travelled to Lymm, We stopped outside the lovely Canalside pub the Fleece. Also great for doggies as they have a 'doggie bar', a special little area set up just for dogs with a water bowl , dog biscuits and also poop bags! Later we went to the great real ale pub the Brewery Tap (also dog friendly with a great range of real ales there). We travelled the next day on to Grappenhall and then through Walton (what breathtaking scenery on the way!). We moored up at the lovely little village of Moore before starting the return journey the next day. (Had the best veggie pasta arrabiatta I have ever tasted in the Red Lion while we were there.)Last stop on the way back for us was the surprisingly leafy Trafford. I would thoroughly recommend this experience to others and Hester's boat is ideal as it is such a lovely boat. I especially loved Queenie's brilliant kitchen with all the accessories provided and the lovely bathroom complete with modern toilet, sink and shower. Thank you very much again Hester.

“Excellent boat - everything you could want!”

We've recently returned from a 8 night stay on the narrowboat Gloria. This boat has everything you could possibly want, it's very well equipped, maintained and spotlessly clean - very comfortable.
Dealing with Hester, the owner, was great. She helped us familiarise ourselves with every aspect of the boat whilst ensuring we had basic proficiency to take the boat out on our adventure.
I'd have no hesitation in recommending Gloria and Star Narrowboat Holidays!

Thank you Hester for a superb time on the lovely Queenie. Thanks to your expert instructions we soon managed to handle her with love and care. We had a great time, relaxing and laughing all the way. I have no hesitation in recommending Hester's company to future customers. This was a great way for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary we loved every moment. DON'T THINK ABOUT IT GO FOR IT!!!!!

We travelled for three and a half days in the beautifully appointed Gloria. Four adults slept comfortably and self catered without finding themselves short of anything.
We saw wide leafy canals in open countryside , a National Trust property, Lyme village full of pubs and restaurants, Trafford park shopping and then old industrial Manchester and the converted Castlefield centre.
Recommended fun for anyone.

As first time boat users Hester guided us through everything we needed to get us started on our trip. From information we needed to read through before the day, to taking us out before our trip showing us the ropes. She made sure after our lesson that we were happy to go ahead and confident to take the boat out alone.
The lovely 'Queenie' was absolutely perfect for us, spotlessly clean, modern and it had everything we needed.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to family & friends and will definitely booking again soon.
