Description: The most traditional English pub for many many miles serving Harveys real ale (& others) Log burning inglenook fireplaces add to the truly authentic atmosphere. Beautiful views over the Sussex/Kent border & the local 9 hole golf course. The perfect place for a quiet drink, game of darts, cribbage or shove Ha'penny amongst other games.

“Why wasn't the pub crowded”
Reviewed 5 May 2014 via mobile

We booked a table for bank holiday Sunday and assumed it would be crowded but it wasn't. The bar staff were quite welcoming and the pub area has a pleasant atmosphere. The conservatory where we ate has a lovely view and the Wisteria was in full bloom. The food was ok but the beef was, on our opinion, overlooked, the veg cold, the Yorkshire pud over cooked and the apple crumble was made with tinned apple which made it so so sweet. It wasn't as good as our first visit and as it's quite a drive we may well go elsewhere next time. A shame as the views are so good.

“Bad rep ?”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

I must say that when we went here we thought it should have been busier !.
We had a lovely lunch though amazing cottage pie and the staff where very helpful with our little one.
Perhaps the current landlady and landlord should read these reviews though as although I didn't think they where rude they were not exactly welcoming.
Shame as this is a lovely cosy little pub

“Miserable Tenants”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

The beer here is pretty good, the decor is fairly nice, the food is quite reasonable, but boy, I have to say that I have never been greeted or served by such a miserable couple as these two!

Situated on the outskirts of Crowborough, you will need to turn off the main road just past the petrol station if you wish to visit this pub. My advice, only call in if you are thirsty, hungry or deaf.

“Very good pub meal”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

Been past this pub a few times since moving to the area, and finally gave it a try tonight. All four of us had steak, which was very good indeed. Deserts didn't let us down either. The place was very quiet, mostly because there was a local carnival on. I hope it's busier next time, because it deserves to be.
