Found this lovely hotel by chance and great that they accept dogs. Room was tastefully decorated in country style with a comfortable bed. We had excellent dinner and breakfast, although breakfast staff/service could be better prepared. Would certainly recommend and stay again.

The hotel has been recently done up and it is a great place to dine. It has a laidback feel with a gastro pub style menu. I was there twice this month and the food was fab both times. Monkfish tampura was delicious and the copper dog sausages (with black pudding in them) were quite simply the best banger I've eaten. Spread the word, this is a top place to eat and drink

we loved our stay at this newly refurbished hotel in speyside
our room a standard was a little small but very nicely done up
we ate in the hotels copper dog grill at night food was of high standard service was good
breakfast was super had the full scottish not enough staff service a bit chaotic
would stay again but felt the standard room rate was a bit steep

Came for supper as a treat but left feeling disappointed.

Salad of roasted peaches and brie was mushy peaches and unripe Brie still fridge cold; hot smoked salmon salad was just that - a pile of fish and an undressed, coarse green salad; companion's soup accompanied by stale slice bread; main course cod and shredded courgettes accompanied by a great many boiled potatoes was O.K (he says); but where was the whisky that should have been in our Crannachan to save it becoming a Fool?

All this took two and a quarter hours. Not sure we'll be tempted back

I was fortunate to have to come to Morayshire on business and due to a number of events in the local area, hotel rooms were hard to find. However I got a good deal through this website and stayed here for one night and was glad that I did. The first thing to say is that if you are looking for a vision of brushed steel and glass minimalist chic then this is not the place for you. However if you appreciate a traditional setting with a modern take and service then this is.

I stayed in a deluxe double and as some reviewers have said, it was not the largest but the building was build in 1893 so it's to be expected. However the decor is very good and I believe that the hotel is coming out the back of a major refurbishment program. The welcome is warm (there's a open fire in reception) and you're also met by the hotel's springer spaniel who's lovely. From my room you could see the River Spey and it's possible to walk along it's banks on a good trail which starts outside the hotel. As another commentator mentioned, it is possible to hear the main road with the window open but I didn't find it intrusive and it's quiet at night.

The restaurant kitchen and staff are of a very good standard and use locally sourced food wherever possible. The menu is relatively small and created every day depending on what local delivers are available. In my opinion, this is a good thing as it means that everything is fresh without the 'ping' of a microwave.

From a business traveller's point of view, there was good wifi coverage in my room and more than sufficient for VPN access and Skype. Mobile coverage (Vodaphone) is patchy and there is no gym. However I went for a run along the river which as a far better option.

In short I was disappointed to leave and do hope to return!

First trip to Speyside and enjoyed the hotel facilities and food. Stayed in one of the larger rooms and was very happy with the furnishings/size of the room. The food at the Copper Dog was excellent and the staff did an excellent job with the service. We stayed here during the first week in August 2014 and refurbishing for the new bar was still in progress but did not cause any inconvenience. Some problems with the wi-fi/internet as I was only able to connect the first day we were there. Lobby staff was excellent and very helpful with directions to various distilleries/sights. Definitely would stay again!

Room Tip: Larger rooms on the first floor.

Good things:

The redecoration is great.
The dinner was excellent - beautifully cooked and attentively served.

Less good things

Staff are not at all slick and are a little amateurish for such an expensive hotel.
Band in the bar was far too loud until 1am - complaints poorly handled at the time, though the bill was slightly reduced on checkout.
Breakfast a bit perfunctory.

Overall ok, not yet really worth the money, has potential.
