We stayed at Las Arenas Hotel for 2 nights in July. There were 13 family members in our group and we all loved it. The staff was very attentive, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The front desk sells water, beer, soda ect. At the same prices of the small grocery stores in the area. We would definitely stay there again!

My husband and I spent four days in Melaque. We had a room right on the pool (#9) with a small kitchen. The pool is just off the beach so we had a great breeze and view. Plus, it was just a few steps to the pool. This was in June so just one block off the beach it was very humid and the breeze was appreciated. The staff are very friendly and Cecelia, who runs the front desk, speaks English. We walked the two miles of crescent beach to have breakfast in Barra de Navidad at Bananas. We had dinner several evenings at Cocos, which is right on the beach. If you like quiet then go on a Monday. Guadalajarans come down on the weekend in large numbers.

Room Tip: # 9 is right on the pool. We checked out #16, but it was far from the pool and the back window look...

Good pool, neat rooms, great strip of beach, various restaurants nearby. If you're staying for a while, the rooms have enough of a kitchen to make simple meals and there's a well furnished common patio area for eating. Could use better matresses and pillows.

We looked at many hotels before we chose this one. It stands out from the others just in appearance. The whole hotel is new (or completely remodeled) and the design and style are refreshing and modern. The hotel is a good size, not to small or to big. We got to know other travellers and all were friendly. Most of the families were Mexican, but there was a couple from Australia. There are a couple different styles of rooms. We choose a two room, with a small kitchen, table, and couch in one room, and two double beds in the other room. The bed room was on the street, but Melaque in the summer is pretty quiet (except the election parade that went down the street, that was facinating to watch). The air conditioner was located in the bed room and worked great. There was also a ceiling fan. The room had a good cable package and the internet worked throughout the hotel. Both great added features. We spent a ton of time in the pool. It was very enjoyable and a palapa is next to it where you can relax under more ceiling fans, eat a meal with your family (take out or made in your room), or log on to the internet. Through the ocean front gate is the beach and waves to swim in. We prefered the pool but alot of people swam there. Overall, we loved this place and would return and recommend it to anyone. It can be hard to find a clean, well maintained hotel in smaller towns.
My only improvements would be to have softer beds (really pretty hard). If you stay, ask for one of their winter blankets and put under the sheet. Might help. Also, give enough towels for the number of guests staying in the room.

Room Tip: #16 is upstairs, with the best view of the ocean and pool, quiet There are 4 rooms that are poolsid...

Thanks for your review, I really appreciate it. In response to your comment about the mattresses, I will proceed in the next weeks to have some optional softer mattress.
