Arrived at the hotel mid morning after a long drive to a friends wedding. Have to say I've stayed at a lot of hotels whilst working away in the past but never had such a welcoming reception as we got here. The staff were superb and the room was superb value for money and don't be put off by the continental breakfast the choice you get is by far more than you would expect we will definitely be coming here again next time we visit Oxford in the future would recommend this hotel to anyone the staff are superb you won't be disappointed.

The hotel is more of a commercial type hotel, no frills. Reception and breakfast room small but adequate. Room very basic but it was clean. Shower room very tiny and it was impossible to clean your teeth without bashing your head on the glass shelf over the sink. Impossible to dry yourself in the shower room. Breakfast was basic, but everything was there and the staff were very accommodating. Would probably not go back as it was slightly too basic for our needs, we would have preferred somewhere with a small bar area but other than that we got what we paid for.

Stayed here for work purposes, we paid £70 for a twin room, everywhere else was booked so had no other option. The room was ok, but you could only watch the tv from 1 bed. Receptionist was miserable, more worried about her phone than her customers. Breakfast was absolutely carnage, dirty plates and food all over the DIRTY tablecloths at 7am, Not a clean table in sight, we spent one morning without any breakfast, and the other with 2 boiled eggs, NOTHING was ever topped up, so the scraps of everything left, NO juice, stale hard toast left there, the list is endless.... I would NEVER advise anyone to stay there, as from next week we staying in The Plough for £20 less and 100% better

Booked mid-afternoon for two rooms on day of stay,(job over run) they had two rooms available, this been the third hotel we had tried, as others full, so what was we going to find!! the reception was good the rooms were good, it was very clean and with breakfast, £55 a night, walking distant to town and bars and restaurant's brill, but this is what you will need, because there is no bar, no lounge and no night time food, this was a shame, I mentioned it to reception that if there was a bar and food perhaps it would be full in the week with contractors, reps etc as this is what some like, like my self, I would stay here again only if I could not get a HOTEL with bar food etc, so just remember you will have to go OUT!

We stayed at the Almond Tree as it was close to the Tythe Barn where we had a party, it is only 5 minutes’ drive away. Upon entry to reception it is about entering a prison service rather than a hotel, with its 24 hour security set up, it felt like we were staying in a dodgy area. The room had everything we needed and the shower was great. Only we were woken at 6am from the room next door using the bathroom, the walls are paper thin. Breakfast was a disappointment, no cooked breakfast here; a tasteless lame spread left us hungry.

We really liked the Almond Tree. We received a friendly reception. The room and shower room were both spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was at least kingsize and comfortable. On a very cold m
November night the room was warm and welcoming. When we got home late, there was a friendly person to see us in.The breakfast was one of the best continental breakfasts we have encountered anywhere. Assorted cooked meats, cheese, fresh fruit, cereals, eggs cooked to order, fruit juice. But best of all, the lightest croissants I have ever had (including in France) Great value for money. £65 for a double room including this super breakfast which set us up for the day. We shall certainly look forward to staying here again.

Upon our arrival, the receptionist was extremely grumpy and almost seemed like she was annoyed at us for distracting her from browsing facebook (the reception is open 24 hrs and the hotel was very quiet during our visit). When we got into our room, the bathroom stuck of cigarette smoke, despite the hotel clearly being a non-smoking hotel. I complained about this to the receptionist who remarked that the previous occupier "was a professional" (as if this meant he didn't smoke) and "checked out at 6am, and the cleaners had cleaned it by 7am". I can't verify if this was true, but for whatever reason, the room just stunk. Despite the hotel being nearly empty, the receptionist refused to allow us to change rooms and didn't apologise for the smell.

The skirt-material around the bed was stained and the bed-frame itself must have been the cheapest one available in Ikea due to its flimsiness.

The breakfast was a 'buffet', complete with stale mdf-textured bread (dated 3 days out of date and nearly rock-solid), very stale croissants, and overly hard-boiled eggs with a black yolk bearing the consistency of a car tyre.

The price had also gone up by £5 since booking, with the receptionist refusing to honour the original price booked online simply giving the response "you can cancel your reservation free-of-charge since the price has gone up, but you do need to pay the current price if you wish to stay with us".
