I love how the furniture doesn't match. That was my first impression. I'm not so sure about the unisex toilet in the garden, though very quaint and in keeping with this quirky atmosphere, somebody had used the facility to its true potential prior to my visit and no amount of smelling salts and air freshener was going to cover that little fumage!! It did put me off my starter which was a beautiful salad with mozerella and other delights. The Goulash was to die for with the wilted spinach finishing it off nicely. The mackerel pate was fabulous too. I loved the rustic feel to both the food and the ambience. The steak, however was not up to standard. I had a chat to the wonderful chap serving us who told us which butcher they had sourced it from and you could have knocked me down with a feather!! I would suggest switching suppliers from there to the Sheep Street butcher. Still, everything is sourced locally and not a lot of restaurants can say that.

11/10 for the hospitality from the waiter of the evening. the goulash rocked big time, the toilet ... well you can judge for yourself ...So relaxed, no hassles and allergies dealt with discreetly with no questions. Thank you guys we will be back soon xxx Oh tried to make a reservation and nobody called back ... luckily you weren't full!! x

I had good expectations of this new bistro in Bicester. Went for lunch there today and experienced the following:
The welcome was warm and friendly, the menu generally quite expensive for a lunchtime meal and the meal it self was pretty average. Hopefully, standards will be raised and I will visit again hopefully for a better food experience.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat and what a lovely surprise, the food is all homemade and served by a lovely friendly couple, the place is spotlessly clean and has a very warm and welcoming feeling. Can't wait for my next visit!!

Visited this new restaurant mainly based on other trip advisor reviews. We went early on a Friday evening, we hadn't booked and as we were a couple then a table was found. By the time we left it was beginning to fill up. Lovely old building and rustic inside. The waitresses are young but very attentive and their smiles made us feel very welcome. Nice music played throughout our meal but was not too distracting, the restaurant is cosy but we could not overhear conversations at other tables. Not a massive menu but plenty to choose from. Main courses ranged from £8 up to £14.50 for sirloin steak. 5/6 starters to choose from and the same for dessert. Ample servings. My wife had Mushroom Risotto which she enjoyed as did I my Pork and Leek Sausages served with Mashed Potato and Onion Gravy. Both of these were at the lower end of the of the price range. We enjoyed a branded bottled beer each around £3.30. There was a wine list but I didn't think to check the prices. We asked for water also and were provided with a carafe and some ice. There is outside seating in a courtyard which is covered, very nice on a summers evening I'm sure.
When it came to the bill we had to ask to add 'service' so it certainly wasn't expected.
Overall - very pleasant and rustic, service relaxed with welcoming staff, food very nice and reasonably priced. We will revisit.
