Blue Bay Hotel
Ranked #13 of 56 Nakuru B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Blue Bay is one clean and quiet place out of the hustle and bustle of Nakuru town. It’s in a secure location right next to the road, if one was to use public means it’s still very convenient.
The rooms are huge and spacious, with floor rugs/carpets at almost every edge of the bed which helps instead of stepping on the cold floor. Our bedding were changed entirely to the bed sheets to the bed cover on the second night, which was a plus
The room also contains a TV two chairs and a table as well as an inbuilt wardrobe to hang your clothes depending on how long your stay is.
The bathrooms are clean and big only not good thing our bulbs were not working in the bathroom but we made use of the natural lighting.
They have WIFI though we were never able to use it did not connect :-(
The restaurant is tiny but works and there is also a bar within the hotel.

I am falling short of words to describe this experience. Seated at my dining table, lake Nakuru graces my eyes, fantastic. The cool wind breeze blows away my thoughts for a moment. Its a feeling so pleasurable. I would best describe it as a comfort zone.The landscape beyond reminds me of the famous rift valley which i used to study years back. Ridges describe the terrain of this scenic view. Residential buildings neighbor this hotel. A busy road beside gives you a glimpse of the hardworking Kenyan community. Te A MO Blue Bay hotel; Am in love with blue bay hotel.

Not even the greatest speech lack facts to back it up.

services:
Talk of the services delivered by the very well trained employees. No sooner had I made an order than was delivered to me. Swift and sweet. My orders came in well presented, served with due diligence. I enjoyed every meal seated on a cosy bamboo chair and well polished tables. The food was also highly affordable. Every coin that dropped for my meals was worth it. I also got to enjoy a lot of internet surfing on my laptop. Was it running on the 5G network?

comfort:
The comfort given to you as you spend your nights is unbelievable. lovely beds, nice wardrobes, a flat screen Tv, and a round table for one to carry out some personal duties. One is also provided with a bottle of clean drinking water to quench you thirst if any.

Meals;
The meals makes me feel like never checking out of this hotel. Professionally prepared and served. My tongue still asks me to date, am I not taste that food again? If you take the breakfast offered, you wont have to worry about any lunch. Its very well balanced and trust me, if you had such everyday, you would double the life of nelson Mandela.

Security;
This is an issue so critical to any traveler. Blue bay boasts of a calm environment and its situated in one of the most secure location in Nakuru. Its proximity to a busy road just gives you a feeling of the lively neighborhood around. Inside the hotel, your safety is also guaranteed. No "uncertified" individual is allowed through the door to the hotel rooms.

Cleanliness:
Every corner of this hotel is well maintained. From the reception area to the hotel rooms. Incredible job done by whoever is in charge of this sector. Bravo!

However I appreciate if you provided a rooftop view of Lake Nakuru. It would be sensational. Iron boxes would also be appropriate for a customer like me who would be attending a meeting the next morning, and had my shirt creased due to a long journey. I also did not rate the Hotel when It came to Swimming Pool and a fitness center since the services were not available. i hope to do that when I come back next time.

I have to check out now. This is a place that i highly recommend to anyone visiting Nakuru and its environs or any one in transit through Nakuru. Make BlueBay your home. Once again Te A Mo Blue Bay Hotel.

5 of us stayed for just one night while travelling through Nakuru. My son had stayed here a few months back and recommended it as a good budget venue. A double room was 1500 Kenyan Shillings (about £10.50) which, for what you get, is fantastic. The hotel is very clean (possibly because it is still fairly new). The bed was comfortable and the bedding was crisp and clean. I believe they are all en suite - certainly the double, twin and single that our group took were. Our double had a slightly strange quirk: the bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a frosted glass panel, fairly see-through, and lockable only from the bedroom side (so you could lock someone in the bathroom, but not lock someone out??). Mosquito nets were clean and the room felt very fresh. Plenty of hot water in the power shower and the most powerful flushing toilet I've ever seen!
A few little faults which could easily be rectified: there was only one towel in the double room, no shade on the main light bulb, there was no mirror in the bathroom and only one, very thin pillow each. Very minor faults. On the plus side were the complementary bottle of water and a flat screen tv. All in all, it was great. An interesting little quirk is that the atrium off which all the rooms are situated is barred and reminded me of a prison (see photo) - - but it was certainly secure (!) and is a unique feature. The food was good and very reasonably priced (both evening meal and breakfast). Maybe in the future the owner will develop the wonderful potential of the roof top terrace and have food or drinks up there, overlooking the lake. I don't know what the person was on who complained on this site about the breakfast - unless he had just misunderstood the ordering method: it was a little confusing, but basically, for 400 Ksh (about £2.80) you could order one item from each of 8 lines of food, each line had 3 or 4 options on it. I had a fruit juice, a fruit salad, coffee, cornflakes and a cooked breakfast of sausage, eggs and toast and could have had up to 3 other items too if I had felt like it! Awesome value (but note, although the hotel calls itself "bed and breakfast" the breakfast isn't included in the price of the overnight stay.
The owner was an incredibly helpful and welcoming man who, if we had had a problem, we felt sure would have solved it straight away. He even had our car washed and valeted free of charge! This is a gem of a place. If you remember that it's very much a budget hotel it offers so much more than you would expect.
It was noisy up until midnight and from 6 am as there are alterations being made to the reception area, and it is on a busy road - but all things considered we would all recommend it very highly.

Value for money in blue bay hotel.
Reasonably friendly people clean spacious room with bathroom. And ...warm water.
& Safety certified by Protect secures between reception and rooms. No air-conditioning but for 15 euros per night for 2 people is not everything possible.
Breakfast at 4 euros per person is very disappointing and is not realistic for what you get. the breakfast is not enough for a normall man. But an additional charge there is more to buy. There is no Wifi in the hotel.

Room Tip: before you book it is also better to worry about breakfast an appointment. how much and what you get...
