If one is looking for a boutique hotel with rose petals on the beds and Egyptian cotton, stay else where. If one is traveling on a backpacker budget and is looking for simple but clean accommodation, this is a great little place. My Lao buddy & I had separate rooms in a bunglaow near the reception area, his had a large double bed and mine had 2 single beds. Shower, toilet, drinking water, soap and toilet paper is all I really need for the average 6 hours I spend in a guesthouse when traveling and this place fit the bill!
The owner has a little restaurant and we ordered lunch and ate at the riverside. The guesthouse is within walking distance to a bank, some cool temples and several nice riverside restaurants (the look fancy but are very reasonably priced).
The owner helped us arrange transport to Wat Phu and outlying temples as well as a trip to Don Det the next day.

Room Tip: If one is wary about the cleanliness of the room or firmness of the bed, have the person in charge s...

We chose this guesthouse as it seemed like the best of a bad bunch when we looked on tripadvisor. The room was dirty, the bed was rock hard and the pathway to the room wasn't too pleasant. The food in the restaurant was ok. The owner was helpful with sorting a tuk tuk to Wat Phu and a the minivan back to Pakse. If you are going to Champasak town to go to Wat Phu then 1 night is enough as you can see it in a morning.

We checked in here for two nights on the basis of the Lonely Planet review. The guy who ran it was nice enough but it was a bit grubby. What sold it was the aircon and the view across the Mekong. We forgot to check the bed however before checking in.Mistake. We are both bony and not so young so sleeping on what felt like a plank was not a good idea(sorry I said sleep...we didn't) which is why we moved on to Pakse after one night. What I will say though is that the little restaurant in the grounds of the hotel does the most amazing steamed fish, so good it almost made the lack of sleep worthwhile.

We stayed here for 3 nights and paid for a double room with riverview. The room was absolutely filthy. There was ants, rat droppings and dead spiders everywhere. The bed was like sleeping on a rock, there was damp on the walls and the bathroom was infested with ants.We had a basic veranda that overlooked the river but to be honest they had cheaper rooms at the front where you could still see the river.
The staff were very indifferent, when we did eat at the guest house we felt we were putting them out even though it was only 7pm and the food wasnt great either.
If you choose to stay in Champasak i would stay at Anouxsa Guest house further up the road.We didnt stay here but used their restaurant a few times and the accomodation looked much better and the staff seemed on the ball.
