“O down to earth restaurant”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

We had not booked but went in by chance for lunch. We were made very welcome. The inside of the pub is rather tired. But the food was good and tasty.

“Late Lunch after a Wine Tasting”
Reviewed 3 August 2012

We called in at the Durant Arms having spotted it on our way to a wine and cheese tasting at nearby Sharpham Estate (thoroughly recommended). We had excellent sandwiches and drinks despite it being last orders for food. The pub was surprisingly quiet and we enjoyed our food in a lovely little courtyard garden. The elderly gentleman behind the bar was a little on the slow side as everything had to be written down longhand!

We would definitely call in again. I wonder if it ever gets really busy? I think it has rooms as well.

“Excellent meal; fab staff”
Reviewed 8 July 2012

First off I have to say how fab the female member of the bar/waiting on staff was:-) We booked for four adults; which included a 94 and an 88 year old. From the moment we got there, NOTHING was too much trouble. Never hurried, just allowed to take their time in choosing drinks and food. Fantastic banter.
Food was freshly cooked and plentiful. We can highly recommend the fish and chips and I can vouch for the scallops and tiger prawns.....they were by far the best scallops I've eaten.

If you're in Totnes, take a short drive to this place, because you won't be disappointed.

“Going back in time”

Nice food, nice place but very dated. Expected more from the look of the outside. £50 per couple for two courses with drinks.

“Birthday break”
Reviewed 22 March 2012

Had an extended weekend break to celebrate our birthdays, the first night spent at the Durant Arms. Very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you. This place is in the middle of nowhere really, so peaceful. Well appointed rooms, we were relocated to the Tallet since our original room only had a bath, no shower and mobility issues necessitated the move. Wonderful self contained unit complete with kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom at the rear of the property. Food very good and a friendly ambience amongst the customers made for an enjoyable evening. Would definately stay again if in the area.
