Just got back from a lovely family weekend at Flear Farm. We stayed in the larger main house as a group of 12 (4 kids ages 1-6). Perfect balance of peaceful countryside, and activities for the children. 3 fun filled days of swimming (indoor and out in various weather) walks by the stream, pond dipping, tennis and BBQ. The playbarn was the highlight for all the kids, and easy downtime for the adults whilst they were entertained. Stroking the horses, spotting wildlife and baby birds nesting in the rafters all added to the perfect weekend in a more than spacious and beautiful house. Thank you Flear Farm for the memories.

We stayed in Flear Farm early May with another family and everything there made our life so much easier than a 'normal' holiday place. Our baby normally wakes at 06:10, but the whole week we were there she didn't stir until 07:40... Needless to say that was amazing! Baby gates, baby cutlery and bowls, not forgetting the playbarn and the pool meant we didn't really have to explore much of the area ;) Though Totnes was my highlight. Wonderful little village. We will be back, that's for sure!

We have just come back from a short break away at Flear Farm. We received a warm welcome e from Barney and were shown around the cottage and facilities. Our cottage - Orchard Lodge - was fantastic - comfy beds, lovely bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, amazing views and right next to the apple orchard. We went with friends and between us we had 2 3 year olds, an 18 month old and 3 month old baby. There was plenty of space for us all. Stair gates, bed bars and highchairs were all provided. the play barn and swimming pool were absolutely brilliant for entertaining the children without having to leave the site at all. We had a brilliant time and I would highly recommend anyone with young children wanting a countryside get away in a child friendly place to book. We will definitely be back!

We booked Flear House for an 85th birthday celebration for all the family. The house accommodates 10-12 with ample space for everyone to be together or do their "own" thing. The kitchen has everything you require to make a meal from scratch or just make snacks and the bedrooms were delightfully decorated, very comfortable beds and excellent ensuite facilities to 3 double rooms plus a family bathroom for the two twin rooms. The facilities on the farm are fantastic, with a large heated swimming pool, sauna and outside hot tub. The play barn was a great success with our two youngest grandchildren as was the tennis court and putting green for the older members of the family. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful scenery, walks in the woods and along the river with the dog. Some of the family braved the swimming pool at the House (it was a little cold in early May).
We were made to feel very welcome by Barney and a very nice touch was a "cream tea" that greeted us on arrival at the House. We would definitely return for another celebration or just return.

We went to Flear Farm for a few days out from visiting relatives whilst in the UK... we felt that we needed some space and tranquility, and that's just what we got! We have 3 kids ages 4,8,12 and we all had a great time!! Cottage was clean, comfy and well stocked with all the essentials like toilet roll and washing up liquid, we even got a delicious locally baked cake for our arrival! My children barely wanted to leave the play barn, and even though they are very different ages, there was plenty for each to do! The pool was lovely, clean and a really swimmable temperature, I'm a bit of a cold water woos! Barney was super helpful and welcoming but not overbearing (we didn't meet Camila as she had a 1 week old baby!) !! Highly recommend to families with kids of any age, really lovely place, great atmosphere... fun had by all!! Thank you!

Just come back from 7 days at the Linhay cottage and wanted to thank Barney and Camilla (and Roo) for their very warm welcome. All of us, including our children who are 2 and 1 and Buddy the dog, absolutely loved the whole set up: the comfortable cottage, the amazing play barn and swimming pool, the beautiful river and the woods.

We think it's an idea place for families with children and we will be back!

We recently spent 3 nights at Flear Farm, staying in the Orchard Lodge, a self-contained two storey barn conversion with 3 bedrooms. Our party consisted of 2 adult couples and two children (ages 7 and 9).

The whole stay was outstanding. The Lodge was immaculate and by far the most beautiful and luxurious self-catering apartment/cottage/lodge we've ever stayed in. Fully kitted out kitchen, living area, large TV, cable channels, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one with Jacuzzi), utility room with clothes washing appliances, outdoor deck with BBQ, plenty of cutlery and crockery, and ample supplies thrown in to help us settle in with none of the mean holding back you get sometimes elsewhere (e.g. ever had the 2 dishwasher tablets and then you have to buy your own?) - there was even a cake there to welcome us.

The site can be a bit tricky (it really is in the middle of nowhere, but once you get there the valley it's nested in is beautiful) to find but the instructions emailed to us were great, and it's on Google Maps anyway. Access is through some very narrow single lane hedgegrow type tracks (1-2 miles of that from either direction that you can enter) so I'd beware of very large cars - that said some of the other residents were there with Range Rovers and Audi Q7s so clearly not that bad. The 'estate' itself is beautiful, nestled in a valley, with a river running through it, lake, horse paddock, and the owner encouraged us to go and freely explore. In the end we did not do this due to the wet weather and muddy trails, but I imagine it will be superb in summer.

The farm complex is a very pretty cluster of restored traditional cottages, plus a large PlayBarn where our children spent a few hours on a rainy day, and a brilliant indoor heated pool with full facilities (changing room, shower, sauna, seating area, hot tub). The pool itself more than fully justified the choice of resort to stay at - it was that good, and we used it every evening. There are also outdoor play areas, tennis courts, mini-golf ... and plenty of spots where to park.

There is no mobile phone reception but you do get a landline phone in your lodge if you absolutely need to. Wifi is available throughout the site. It's fairly low-bandwidth, and a bit patchy throughout the farm, but when I had a signal I found it reliable.

The very pleasant and cheerful owner Barney came to welcome us on arrival, and was extremely helpful and prompt with a couple of minor matters. He gave us a tour of the facilities and was there to see us off on departure day.

The location is a great base for the various beaches and seaside resorts available within 20-30 mins driving to the West, East and South. We spent half a day at Burgh Island and it was beautiful.

We have already decided that we will go back in sunnier weather.
