“Some rooms are significantly nicer than others”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

We spent one night here. Our room was relatively small (it fit 3 single beds but not much else) and furniture/style was definitely dated. However my in-laws had a much bigger and nicer room (for the same price), so you have to be lucky...
The bathroom was particularly small and, without a tub, was completely flooded after a shower. It's relatively normal in Myanmar, but given the size, water was everywhere.
The hotel is very centrally located (although Kalaw is a small town anyway, so by walking 10 minutes you get anywhere), breakfast was pretty good.

Firstly this hotel was included in our tour so my review is based on my experience as someone who didn't pay for the hotel. From what I understand it cost about $50 a night which may sound expensive for Burma but accommodation is expensive in Burma. The service was exceptional. They were welcoming, the rooms where basic but good. This part of Burma is quite cold from the late afternoon until about 10am. The rooms were quite warm considering all accommodation in Burma has no heating. Wifi didn't work in all rooms which is typical for Asia but worked in the dining room and lobby quite well. The breakfast was amazing and the best I have had in this country so far. It is a western breakfast of fruit, pancakes & eggs including actual poached eggs. The beds were comfortable and showers hot. The hotel is close to the town and market but this isn't hard as the town is very small. This seems to be a hotel dominated by tour groups as there were a few during my visit.

Title says it all. Once I saw the roaches I couldn't sleep properly. Otherwise perfectly fine hotel for price point. Wifi was down when we got there (whole town was down) so don't expect to be connected.

From the outside the hotel looked quite charming and so was the dining room. Other parts of the hotel didn't fit the charm label so well. Lobby was small, hallways narrow, room was alright, had windows on 3 sides which was nice (2nd floor, in front) but the light from the hotel sign was right outside one wall of windows and it was on all night and the drape did not fully block the light.

Room Tip: Avoid the 2nd floor room, I think it was A3, because the illuminated hotel sign is on all night and...

We stayed 1 night at Dream Villa before doing the Trek from Kalaw to Inle. The room was fine but overpriced compared to other places we stayed at in Myanmar. We paid 50 USD for a room. Compared to other places we stayed a more reasonable price would probably be 30-40 USD.

The rooms were pretty basic and clean and nothing above or below average. The breakfast was nice with coffee, pancake, fruit and eggs. Besides from the pancake the other things are pretty standard for hotels in Myanmar it seems.

The staff were attentive and helpful and spoke reasonable english.

All in all nothing really bad or good to say about this place, but the prices (even for Myanmar standards) were a bit overpriced to what we paid other places.

During our stay in Kalaw we were in this hotel. According to the Lonely planet was this one of the best hotels in Kalaw. They could be right because I didn't see other hotels there. The room was very simpel and small. However the staff was very friendly and the beakfast was alright. In the hotel are no diner possibilities but a liitle bit further there is the restaurant of this hotel. I thought it was strange that they didn't mention this. We had dinner there one night and the food was excellent. The highlight of this town is the 5 day market which we missed when we were there. There is not much to do in Kalaw.

First of all I would like to stress that travelling in Myanmar is not the same as travelling elsewhere in south-east Asia. Value for money is different than when booking a hotel in Vietnam.

I find the hotel really great. It is clean, the rooms are spacious and the staff is really friendly and helpful. The arranged a guide for my one day hike and cleaned my muddy shoes when I returned. There is no airco, but that is not necessary in this mountain climate.

Shower is hot, but it is just a shower head located between sink and toilet. So everything gets wet. But again it is clean and that is for me the most important think.

I would stay here again!
