Kalaw is a small town not geared up to mass tourism. We stayed at Dream Villa for one night on a cycle tour of Burma. In terms of rooms it was probably the most basic hotel we stayed in. Our room just fitted two beds, and the shower sprayed over the whole bathroom floor and the loo. But the beds were comfy - though you did need the hefty extra blanket (in the wardrobe) at night. This was so heavy, I now understand the concept of "swaddling"! The highlight was breakfast - great choice of fruit, eggs, banana pancakes and shan noodles. BTW if you are worried about having internet access every day, don't come to Burma, even the best hotels (outside Yangon) can't guarantee this!

Our room was very small, slightly damp smell and very cold at night during our stay. We only found the extra blankets after the first night! On the second night I saw filled hot water bottles on a chair in the entrance so asked to take one, which made such a great difference to my night's sleep! The bathroom was tiny and the shower tight next yo the toilet, resulting in wet loo paper and a wet toilet seat. I really didn't like the bathroom set up. Breakfast was very good, plentiful and tasty. It is all brought to you, rather than a buffet style which was a nice change. The wifi was ok in the reception areas.

We spent one night here. Our room was relatively small (it fit 3 single beds but not much else) and furniture/style was definitely dated. However my in-laws had a much bigger and nicer room (for the same price), so you have to be lucky...
The bathroom was particularly small and, without a tub, was completely flooded after a shower. It's relatively normal in Myanmar, but given the size, water was everywhere.
The hotel is very centrally located (although Kalaw is a small town anyway, so by walking 10 minutes you get anywhere), breakfast was pretty good.

Firstly this hotel was included in our tour so my review is based on my experience as someone who didn't pay for the hotel. From what I understand it cost about $50 a night which may sound expensive for Burma but accommodation is expensive in Burma. The service was exceptional. They were welcoming, the rooms where basic but good. This part of Burma is quite cold from the late afternoon until about 10am. The rooms were quite warm considering all accommodation in Burma has no heating. Wifi didn't work in all rooms which is typical for Asia but worked in the dining room and lobby quite well. The breakfast was amazing and the best I have had in this country so far. It is a western breakfast of fruit, pancakes & eggs including actual poached eggs. The beds were comfortable and showers hot. The hotel is close to the town and market but this isn't hard as the town is very small. This seems to be a hotel dominated by tour groups as there were a few during my visit.

Title says it all. Once I saw the roaches I couldn't sleep properly. Otherwise perfectly fine hotel for price point. Wifi was down when we got there (whole town was down) so don't expect to be connected.

From the outside the hotel looked quite charming and so was the dining room. Other parts of the hotel didn't fit the charm label so well. Lobby was small, hallways narrow, room was alright, had windows on 3 sides which was nice (2nd floor, in front) but the light from the hotel sign was right outside one wall of windows and it was on all night and the drape did not fully block the light.

Room Tip: Avoid the 2nd floor room, I think it was A3, because the illuminated hotel sign is on all night and...

We stayed 1 night at Dream Villa before doing the Trek from Kalaw to Inle. The room was fine but overpriced compared to other places we stayed at in Myanmar. We paid 50 USD for a room. Compared to other places we stayed a more reasonable price would probably be 30-40 USD.

The rooms were pretty basic and clean and nothing above or below average. The breakfast was nice with coffee, pancake, fruit and eggs. Besides from the pancake the other things are pretty standard for hotels in Myanmar it seems.

The staff were attentive and helpful and spoke reasonable english.

All in all nothing really bad or good to say about this place, but the prices (even for Myanmar standards) were a bit overpriced to what we paid other places.
