The room was very small and dated with lots of wooden panelling. The bathroom was horrible, rotting wood, basin placed much too high on the wall, toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, terrible mould under the toilet, grotty tiling and the air vent opens into the corridor so noise can travel. But there was always hot water.

However the breakfast although a set menu was very nice, but they forgot to offer us eggs or pancakes one day out of the three. The internet worked if you were very persistent and got lucky. The TV was modern and had an SD card slot. Our laundry was very cheap, only 20p an item, and it came back ok.

Try the PoePoe bakery nearby for great cakes!

The staff were very friendly, offering to wash our shoes after a dusty walk and providing hot water in a flask very quickly after we asked. They all lined up to wave our party goodbye!

Hotel looks great and staff are most helpful. Rooms are tiny though .. not even space for 2 cases. Bathroom even smaller with shower over toilet and everything gets soaking. Very warm rooms despite climate and very noisy .... get room on ground floor at the back.

Nice views with a corner room but rather inadequate curtains. Friendly staff with a personally cooked breakfast and hot tea on tap. Good to warm you up as it gets cold at night in the mountains! Expect to sit in the bath if you want a 'shower'. Clean air and very quiet at night so no problems sleeping - nice touches with fresh flowers in the hall and a free boot clean. Wifi ok but only at reception. Meal next door at Dream restaurant was excellent - full of photos of Aung Sang Su Kyi! Good location to access the town with a unique bakery two minutes away. A good place to trek from.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a tour, so I can’t comment on price value. The room I had (102) had two twin beds, a small wardrobe, a fridge and a nightstand. There was a TV with a couple of channels; Al Jazeera was the only news channel. The room was cold and there was no heat. The bed and pillows on the firm side but were OK. There was adequate bedding. Lighting was poor, with only an overhead light and no reading light next to the bed. The shower was not separate from the rest of the bathroom so it flooded the entire bathroom when you took a shower. Hot water was adequate as long as a lot of people weren’t taking a shower at once, but took a long time to reach this room. Breakfast was OK: cooked to order eggs, juice, a crepe, toast and tea or coffee. Wifi was available and some people were able to access it, but it didn’t work with my computer. There is an Internet café a couple of blocks away, but it is extremely slow.

We spent a couple of nights here and thought it was a good basic hotel with friendly helpful staff. They cleaned our shoes after a day of dusty trekking without having to ask, and without charge. Wifi works, but very very slowly, so you either had to be very patient or wait til everyone else had gone to bed, and even then it was still slow! But that's probably the same everywhere. Breakfast was set, but it worked well, pancakes and toast and egg with fruit. Well located for restaurants and local sites. We felt sorry for the girls carrying heavy bags up and down the stairs. They have a restaurant up the road, Dream restaurant, which we ate at and had a very pleasant meal. Rooms adequate, bathroom basic and shower sprays the whole room. I think some rooms are better than others, we had an upper floor corner room, which was very light, but with inadequate curtaining and with mould on.
