We stayed one night before trekking in Kalaw at this nice, small hotel in British country style. Wonderfully surrounded by the green nature.
When we arrived I was not really sure if I was in Ireland or in Myanmar, the style of this hotel reminded me of my former Ireland stay in b&b's. The staff was as well very lovely, however they were not really professional.
Unfortunately the room facilities drop down the review. Pillows were incredibly hard and very uncomfortable to sleep cause as well to high. Bathroom was functional, but as well here the shower without cabin. This might be Asian standard but is not really practical. So I decided to use the shower in the bathtub, which had nearly no water pressure. Hot water was as well not working this morning. Pity.
Breakfast was simple, but the omelettes very well done. Upon check out the whole staff lined up to say goodbye, really lovely.

Room Tip: The rooms on the left side of the duplex contain more wooden interior.

A simple, clean and friendly familiy-run location.Nice staff.
We stayed just for one night, on our way to Inle. It was very, very cold, during that night also in the rooms. So be prepared and take your sleeping bag with you.
During the night, there was too much traffic on the road passing by to a military camp that is close by.

The garden and the outside of the hotel look great but the inside is not that good. The rooms are cramped and there is not wardrobe or anywhere to put your clothes. Fortunately it is reasonably cool up at Kalaw as there is no air con or fan. The curtains don't pull across properly so you get the first light coming in to the room. The shower curtain is in the middle of the bathroom and doesn't seem to serve any purpose but the shower was hot. The staff were very good and always smiling. It was a long walk to town, transport is needed.

this was not up to our expectations. Food was good. Walking I found a golf course, a pagota, and a lot of military. I broke my toe on the bed because there is hardly any room between the wall and the bed. There are lots of steps going up into the rooms.
Kalaw has an interesting market with snake charmers and exotoic foods.
We ate at a restuarant in town and some excellant food.
I won't share a photo this time!

The outlook of this hotel was great, a little out of town and so was very quiet, set in manicured gardens. Rooms were a little cramped and in my room the plumbing suspect and was undesirable. Staff all well dressed and polite. An army camp nearby and some said the stomping past the hotel early morning woke them but I heard nothing.

We stayed 2 nights in this new hotel. It is located 20 minutes' walk from Kalaw town centre, but its location is quiet and amidst beautiful pine trees. The hotel looks really beautiful from outside and indeed is a lovely postcard photo. But the interior design is not really friendly. The floor carpet looks like an afterthought as it is loosely placed and not attached firmly. We had room 401 which is roomy and airy. Our friend in 402 complained of a standing pillar in the area. The warm blankets were good enough for the cold nights at 15 degrees C in November. The hot water shower was inconsistent--good one day and mediocre the second.
The staff are always helpful and smiling, and the owner is at hand to offer his help anytime.
Due to the "location", the hotel offers to purchase your lunch and dinner for you and serve it at their dining hall. This is done using several menus from the town's good restaurants.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms on the upper floor, which may cost a bit more.

we arrived in heavy rain and my room smelt musty. it was very small and poorly designed. you couldn't switch off the lights from the bed and it was difficult to draw the curtains (but you had to keep them closed in any case as anyone could see in). it was a long way into town and when we came back from dinner there was nowhere to sit except in the breakfast room, which wasn't very comfortable. this was the least good of the hotels i stayed in during my trip.
