“Try to avoid this Hotel”

This hotel should be listed as the hotel of the ultimate last resort, if there is a treee to sleep under choose the tree. There was no water, so never mind hot water. We asked for help from the staff and they could not deliver anything except lame excuses and we speak their language mind you.
It was an extremely damping experience on our vacation, we did not go back as originally planned.

Room Tip: Do not take Room number 101. No water and you can hear everyone talk, plus you can hear trucks goin...

I arrived in Kalaw at 2am and the staff woke up when I came knocking. For $20 I got a clean room and shower, in line with the price. Breakfast is free and decent. I moved to a $10 guesthouse the next night and there was a noticeable downgrade in room quality. So you get what you pay for...

We stayed there for only one night.
We were given a room on the ground flour facing the back of the hotel, wich faces the main road in town. So it was a terrible night with all that noise! Trucks come and go all nigth! Our sink had a leeking problem....

We've stayed there twice, first in Oct, 2012 and then again in Dec. The location was good as it was on the main road. The bus left us in front of the hotel at 3 am and they offered us half-price for a rest coz we're leaving at 8 am for trekking.
We got the rooms only at the roof-top and we were a bit upset, but to our surprise when we woke up, the view at the top floor was superb. We really loved that and booked them again for after trekking instead of the downstairs rooms we'd already taken.
When we returned, it was funny. We had to try a lot to use the stairs up and down after a tiring trekking. If you are to trek, you should think about it beforehand. But the staff offered a very good massage service (with a local physiotherapist) for us.
We had a little problem with hot water coz the water ran out in the middle of the shower but I think maybe it was because the water system didn't work well for the top floor. (They said they were still renovating on it). And though the rooms were lovely in the morning and in the evening, it was pretty hot during the day. Sometimes, it may take longer to get served than the downstairs rooms.
The electricity was 24 hours. The price was quite alright. The breakfast was okay. Hot water works (most of the time). The rooms were new with wooden floor. The paint was new and the bathrooms were clean. You can order the food from the restaurant and eat in the rooms.
The service was lovely. One evening, we wanted to do some groceries and they offered a bike for free. One of our friends was sick after trekking and they took him to the clinic for free ride.
The Kalaw market, nice restaurants, and bus station are just 5 minute walk from the hotel. Overall, it is of good value but maybe next time we had better take 3rd or 2nd floor.

Room Tip: Among the rooms on the top-floor, the double room that is on the southeast side is the best. It was...
