“Good in parts...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Let's start with the pluses. Great location in a pretty, quiet, classy town. Very helpful and friendly staff, led by Barbara, the manager. Pretty conservatory for breakfast, great public spaces (with a big collection of high quality art) and nice little garden courtyard. BUT, you need to choose your room carefully. Make sure you get a room in the lovely main building, preferably overlooking the garden. Our room in the annex (ex stables/servants quarters) was a bit dingy and utilitarian (the servants didn't warrant frescoes!) and certainly not worth the money (this hotel is expensive for what it offers). A small final note: breakfast is extra and is no more than average (no fresh orange juice, little fresh fruit, packets of cereal, etc). Also, we did not realise a cooked breakfast was on offer until the last day - so, ask!

Dear Client, My grandmother used to tell me "You cannot please everybody, so please stop trying".. But I have never learnt the second part and I strive to please every single client of mine. In your case, knowing that you were not pleased with the peaches, apples, water melon, bananas that our buffet normmaly provides . I brought from my private garden a small and juicy honey melon, cultivated by my husband, and served it only to you. But much to my regret it was not enough. The room your booked for was a superior and I upgraded you in a lovely junior suite deluxe with an extra connecting room, a lovely marble bathroom and a garden view provided by two large windows. But, much to my regret it was enough.
But, I never give up and next time you'll be here I am sure I will know better your tastes and give you the smaller room in the building facing the street, so you will be able to enjoy the frescos you so much admired during your site inspections. Regards, Barbara Pardini GM AND SALES AND MARKETING DIRECTOR

First time driving in Italy and had difficulty navigating and parked a block away. The hotel staff went and picked up our car, brought champagne and chocolate to our room and made dinner reservations each night we were there. The room was spacious and wonderful. Thank you for making that part of our one month tour of Europe amazing!

Room Tip: Request the suite overlooking the back garden.

Albergo Pietrasanta is the most fantastic place to stay during your holiday. It is situated centrally in one of the most wonderful cities in Tuscany, Pietrasanta. You are warmly welcomed by the most professional staff we have ever met. The albergo is beautifully furnished, and every room has its own special atmosphere. If you plan to give a party, you can not find a better place to do so. We had a party for 60 people and it was simply perfect. Best ambience ever!!! Suzanne Henningsen, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Albergo Pietrasanta. Centrally located, but on a pedestrian street, so the there is no traffic noise. Barabara (the General Manager) and her staff do a superb job of making you feel welcome, and are happy to accommodate any requests you may have. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with lots of marble and antiques and the rooms are large. Breakfast is beautifully presented in the conservatory. Excellent choice of fresh bread, fresh fruit, cereals, Italian meats and cheeses, as well as quiche or fritta, and homemade cakes....which were fantastic. You can also order a cooked breakfast if you wish. The town has plenty of choice of restaruants...our favourites were Il Giglio and Gato Nero. Lots of shopping too....especially for shoes made in Italy, of course! Highly recommend...a great hotel and a greattown to visit.

We had a great 2 night stay at this property with another couple. The service was excellent from the check-in,turn down service, valet parking, and just about anything you can ask for, they will do their best to get it done. The breakfast provided all you could most likely want and if you needed something special, they would go out of their way to make sure they provide it, if not that morning, certainly the next. Breakfast was provided in an enclosed intimate garden setting. Since there are only 20 rooms, you feel that the Albergo Pietrasanta is your own private villa being shared with some friends. The room we had was excellent with a nicely appointed bathroom and some very nice products for use. The hotel does't have a restaurant on site, but they provided us some great recommendations and will call to book you a table if asked. We tried the beach club Bagno Grazia and it was excellent and the restaurant was also very good. Try the fritto misto, it was really good.
The Albergo Pietrasanta provides some very unique programs (shown on their web site) that we are sure to experience on our next visit, as we will be back!

we stayed for 2 nights of a two week italian holiday. This is a very charming hotel in a charming town. The rooms were large and comfortable. There was a nice sitting room where you could enjoy a glass of wine with company. The breakfast area is a glass enclosed terrace with a nice garden. There were many fine restaurants within walking distance.

However, the best part of this hotel is the staff, especially Barbara Pardini. She went out of her way to make sure everything was done and helped us in a difficult situation. We look forward to staying at this hotel again in the future.

We stayed a week in albergo Pietrasanta and enjoyed every moment of both the hotel and the town. When we arrived, Barbara our host said, "welcome to your home," and she and her staff did everything to make that promise a reality. And yet it was not so cosy that it lost any of its elegance and style.
The same can be said for the town itself (be careful - this is the old town - not the marina). It is a stylish artists' town but you can still enjoy the simple pleasures of a cheap aperitivo in one of the bars in the piazza. And the artists' shop fronts are wonderful for shopping for those really special and unique items you need to take home with you.
Barbara can give you whatever advice you need about shopping and dining at one of the 34 restaurants in the town.
We would like to visit annually. And we would stay nowhere else but Albergo Pietrasanta!

Room Tip: Room 311 is the best but it doesn't have a shower.

Albergo Pietrasanta is located in a grand seventeenth century palazzo, formerly known as the Barsanti-Bonetti, in the historical center of the town, near the Cathedral and the medieval square. A lovely veranda, facing landscaped gardens with century-old palm trees, connects the main building to the adjacent converted stables and provides a peaceful setting to have a quiet conversation or read a book. An extraordinary collection of contemporary art works is on permanent display at the Albergo Pietrasanta. The collection gives an exhaustive overview of the development of Italian art from the middle of the twentieth century until today. Each of the 15 rooms and 5 suites has been designed individually: furniture and colors have been chosen according to the structure of the spaces. Contemporary art works are displayed in staircases, lounges, and conference rooms, creating a comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of a fine private home, but coupled with the service of a first class hotel. ... more   less
