Snakedance Condominiums

We just got back from Taos Ski Vally a week ago today! We had a blast! After spending 2 days doing all my homework about where we wanted to stay between Taos, Red River and Angel Fire, we decided on Snakedance condos in Taos Ski Valley. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!!! Spent 6 nights in a nice1 bedroom condo that was updated and comfortable. Snakedance was so convenient in many aspects. In the mornings and afternoons, the valet would take me to the childcare to drop off and pick up our 22 month old. The resturaunt there was the best in town. And the lift was literally outside the back door ( which is next to the valet ski locker)! The local store was on the first floor ( with separate entrance from public). The staff is outstanding and extremely friendly!! I would go through skitaos.org and use Katy or Andrea! The girls at snakedance are great too I just got a better deal the other way. I had a wonderful massage from Erin as well!!! Best ever!!! We looked into Edleweiss but I definitely think we made THE best choice! I can't wait to go back!!!! Thank you Snakedance!!!!

We got a handicapped-accessible room, with large kitchen/great room, good-sized bedroom. The bathroom was plenty-big, with a roll-in shower that didn't lose a drop of water out onto the rest of the bathroom floor.
Decent view from this room on the back side of the bldg.
Gas fireplace. Well-insulated--we needed no supplemental heat even tho night time temp already down into thirties in early Oct.
PLAN AHEAD: you're at 9,300 ft elevation here at the condo...and will be exerting yrself at higher elevations still...and, it gets dry here, so lotsa water, folks.

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony, you'll get a FABULOUS view of the mtns!

We orginally made reservations for a studio queen room but were delighted to find that when we arrived, we had been upgraded to a one bedroom king suite. The hotel was very quiet as we arrived in the off season after a holiday weekend.

The hotel is so lucky to have Rachel as an employee. She is very customer service oriented and a delight to talk to. She made us feel right at home.

Our room was beautiful with two walk in closets and a huge living room and kitchen. We had TV's in both the bedroom and the main room. Because it is unusually warm this summer, we did need to use the giant fan that they put in the bedroom. (They do not have air conditioning). Loved staying there and enjoyed the beautiful Taos ski mountain. Would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I have skiied several places in Colorado the past few years, but because they were short on powder when we booked this year, we opted to return to Taos. This is a great location if your intention is to ski and just hang out at the condo. There's definitely not a lot of night-life, but we knew that going in, so we expected it.

The location is perfect and the ski-valet attendants are very friendly and accomodating. The front desk staff was okay, but not overly friendly. As far as the accomodations themselves, we had a group of three adults in a one-bedroom condo, and it was perfect. Nice kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and the television was dated, but who travels for 9 hours to watch tv!?

Overall, it was a great, functional, affordable option and we would definitely return. One tip: visit the Taos Diner II (across from McDonald's) on the way up to the ski valley. AWESOME food!

If you are just there to ski, it's a great location. If there is anything you want to watch on TV, forget it. We stayed in 406, a 2 BR lofted condo. The otherwise great living room had an 18 inch TV above the fireplace. Not only too small to see but also low resolution. Hot tub was not well maintained.

We just returned from a 5 day stay in unit #402. This is a 2 bedroom plus loft unit. The master bedroom has a king sized bed. Fair warning-it is actually 2 twins with a converter and if you like very firm beds you will certainly enjoy this one. There is a master bath with a tub/shower. The second bedroom consists of 2 twin beds. Another full bathroom with a tub/shower is located across the hall from this bedroom. The loft contains another king sized bed exactly like the one in the master bedroom. There's another full bathroom off of the living room with a separate tub and shower. The kitchen has nice appliances and is appointed with plenty of dishes, glasses and silverware. Cookware and cooking utensils are very basic. There was detergent for the dishwasher, but no dishwashing soap. We bought some in the store downstairs. There is a coffee maker and filters, but you need to bring your own coffee and supplies. TV with cable is in each bedroom, loft and living room. We did have some small issues with using the remote control in the living room. There is a gas fireplace in the living room and one in the master bedroom. These are on timers that go up to a max of 30 minutes at a time. There are two tiny balconies-one off of the living room and one off of the dining area (adjacent to the living room). I believe they're called Juliette balconies? They aren't really big enough to stand out on, but it's nice to open the doors and look out at what's going on outside in front of the building. The dining table is large, and I believe there were 6 chairs...we used the breakfast bar mostly, which is large and has 4 barstools. There is a washer/dryer in the unit, but is locked up and not for renters' use. The walls are quite thin. We could hear a lot of noise from our neighbors and on the first night the room below us complained that we were making a lot of noise from 1 am to 5 am. I am sorry that they were bothered, but swear on the life of my first born child that no one was up in our unit during those hours.

The building itself is not beautiful or fabulous, but definitely nice enough. There is guest laundry, which consists of 1 stacked washer/dryer. The hot tub and sauna is kind of grungy looking, but seemed fine. Certainly nothing to write home about. The restaurant turned out to be a bright spot for us. Good food and our waitress was excellent. We had one lunch and one dinner there. The ski locker attendants were also excellent. They were very nice and super helpful. The location of these condos is absolutely the best part. It is literally steps from the lift and ski school.

We rented unit #402 through Taos Ski Valley Properties. We did receive instructions for our arrival, but did not receive any instruction for departure. The lady at the front desk said that we should remove our trash and wash our dishes, which I guessed was the case. She told us to leave our keys with her. If we have the opportunity to go again (and I hope we do) we will likely rent through the condos themselves. We were supposed to contact the rental company with anything we needed instead of the front desk, which just doesn't make good sense to me.

Overall, the experience was great and everyone had a fabulous time!

Roger Mariani the Snakedance Condo GM and his wife are wonderful hosts. We came in as part of a ski club and they invited us for dinner down to their home in the valley for
appetizers, dinners and drinks. We also got to take in the Rio Grande River Gorge bridge, though I wish we got there 15 minutes earlier. They also provided a complimentary Hor d'oeuvres, beer and wine the first night.

You can't beat the location. It's the very best in Taos, 10 yards from the main lift, with a boot and ski room to get rid of your skis and boots on the way back. On the way from the airport they stopped at a major Safeway supermarket so we loaded up on wines and breakfast items. The condos are stocked with all the basic cooking utensils needed for ski trips.

They even provide complimentary shuttles to visit Taos 30 minutes away. Sign up early availability is limited.

When I go back to Taos it's the only place I want to stay at.
