“Good stay at the M&M”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2007

Stayed at the hotel on a business trip. Accommodated in the courtyard. I agree with a previous reviewer that rooms here are small with rather a poky dressing table, which could barely accommodate a laptop. Some nice touches for this class of hotel including sachets of ground coffee with cafetiere and bathrobes. Free Wi-fi is a great bonus.

Contrary to previous reviews the restaurant and bar service was attentive and excellent. The food also was good and varied. I was treated to a live jazz event for my Sunday dinner.

All in all an above average hotel, apart from my room size which would hardly accommodate a couple, and barely coped with a single business guest.

I stayed at the hotel because I was attending an evening function at a wedding. The chef was preparing the wedding breakfast and still went out of his way to make us some sandwiches after last orders had been called for lunch.

We stayed in a superior room which was spacious and nicely furnished.

The hotel coped well at breakfast considering there was a large wedding party.

The staff are friendly and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We visted this hotel at the end of one of the wettest June's on record. The original intention was to spend a lazy afternoon in the garden (which we did not do because of the constant rain). This may have dampened our enthusiasm about the property!

We booked two rooms (a double and single) which were in the courtyard area. These were contemporarily furnished in black and white but rather small. The bedroom area of the double room was just big enough for the bed, two small bedside tables and a small dressing table. There was a separate changing area (it would have been better if the wall was knocked through so I assume there was a structural reason for this). No baths were available however the shower was of a reasonable quality. The mould in the bathroom detracted from the atmopshere but the fluffy white bathrobes left on the door were a nice touch.

We booked the hotel because of the reputation of the restaurant. The food was good but the speed of service was apalling. It took nearly 3 hours for 3 courses. As a concession the hotel agreed to pay for the first round of drinks.

The breakfast was reasonable but again could have been improved if were were served with fresh tea and coffee (both were poured from a flask and were luke warm as a result.) However when we asked if we could have a hot chocolate (which was not on the breakfast menu) - this was delivered without fuss and was delicious.

Overall, this hotel was reasonable and the surroundings are lovely but the staff need to pay more attention to the detail - particularly given the rates they charge.

We booked this hotel as a bit of a treat after our wedding - it costs more than we usually spend. We booked a standard room at £95 per night but when we went in it was furnished nicely but very small. It was not really any better than a £50 per night B&B.

We went to reception and she was very helpful. She gave us a key to have a look at a suite that was available. We upgraded (£135) and do no not have any complaints about that room at all - it was gorgeous. And the views were very nice too.

The best thing about the place was the staff - they were so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely and so was the food in the restaurant - although a little expensive. It was definitely good for a celebration, though.

Went to this hotel with my partner for weekend break, and booked this hotel due to the good food served here and its proximity to the vineyard we had booked to go on a wine tasting day.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the rooms seemed cold (yet the heating in the corridors seemed overpowering) Found the bathroom a little disappointing with the door jamming against the sink and the shower not very potent.

The food in the restaurant was good although with two AA rosettes it should be!
