“Excellent choice for F1 at Suzuka Circuit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

As per other reviews this is a good Business hotel, with generous room sizes. The staff are super and there is one guy who does the best welcoming bow we came across.

If you are attending F1 or Moto GP at Suzuka Circuit you don't have to stay in Nagoya and spend over an hour on the train each way - you can stay in Yokkaichi!
Things you should know - there are two railway stations in Yokkaichi - the Japan Railways (JR) one and the Knetsu line station. The hotel is two minutes from the Knetsu station and about 18 mins from the JR. As Yokkaichi is a grid based town its a simple walk down the dual carriage way boulevard via the Knetsu station plaza and the hotel is round the corner.

The private ISE railways run a cute little train from the JR station to Suzuka Ino - takes about 15 mins + 15 minute walk to the circuit. Although the JR pass does not normally cover travel to/from the circuit it does on race weekends provided you have a ticket for the race.

As the majority of the clientel using the hotel are Japanese the breakfast menu reflect this. They do offer a western breakfast but it is limited and we did not find any brassieres/cafes in the immediate area so had to go with their offerings which were OK. They will do you a nice fried egg on request. There is a Starbucks next door though for anyone who cant face the day without a skinny latte and a KFC in the mall attached to the Hotel if you get desperate.

We found a couple of nice places to eat in the mall across the road from the hotel. Indian Village does a good curry menu with really huge Naan breads which are made fresh on the premises. Francesca do a thin based pizza including a veggie one which are tasty.

Room Tip: Book early if visiting the Grand Prix

This hotel was arranged for us by the family we were visiting in Yokkaichi. It was a great choice. It was clean, had a very attentive and welcoming staff and was within walking distance of shopping. The buffet breakfast was very nice - American and Japanese food choices. Everything was done well.

Rooms are clean and size is acceptable. Bathroom size is good compared to japanese business hotel. Check in very efficient and payment is done when checking out. When in Yokkaichi this is my first choice.

Room Tip: This is not a typical western style hotel with rooms >30 square m. Be aware. Roomsize is about 16...

First this is the only game in town unless you want a Japanese business box room, so deal with it :-) . This place is an old friend for me, been coming for 20 years. Little if anything has changed!: it feels like the 90s – dated but pleasant and comfortable. It has all you need. The local wedding hotel. Yokkaichi is a country town, not Tokyo and this hotel matches it.

As mentioned, above average rooms size. Really excellent breakfast with Japanese local cooking and local foods (ah, the eggs and the tofu!). Breakfast could start at 6:30 instead of 7pm, but again, this is still the 90s. Front desk service is definitely average, especially for Japanese business. Excellent connections by limo bus to airport and walking dist to Kintetsu train.

If you are running VPN, most of the time, the internet is not consistent enough to keep you connect. The internet gets better on the weekend, however during the weekdays, they don’t have enough bandwidth.
A few of the mattresses are kind of old and the springs are uncomfortable. There a many noises both internal and external. If you are a light sleeper or need VPN, this hotel is not for you.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2007

This is part of the Miyako Chain hotel in Japan. It is located in the small city of Yokkaichi, with the only big company Toshiba around as one of the main employer.
Hotel is located close to the train station, basically in the center of the city. Very good location for bus to Centrair Nagoya Airport and to the Kintetsu train station which has good connections to various cities including Nagoya and Osaka.
Hotel building is one of the tallest in the city and connected to a shopping mall, great for food and supermarket shopping.
Nearby is the local town museum with actually some good dinasours exhibition.
Staff as usual are very friendly and helpful. Only limitation is language, but sufficient enough to get things done.
Rooms are bigger than the average Japanese hotels, and the bathroom is actually more normal to western standard than the normal cabin type as found in most hotels (including 5 star hotels in Japan).
Internet connection was free, but at times rather slow.
Breakfast was ok, depending on which sort of food you go for. Japanese was of course the most spread out.
In general, a ok hotel, but compared to the rest in the city, it is one of the best and of course also one of the most expensive.

  • Liked — Friendly staff and good location if you need to be there
