I would fully recommend Shrorland Old Farm to anyone. My mum and I spent 4 lovely days there and thoroughly enjoyed Sandy and Mark's warm and genuine hospitality. The accomodation, food and setting are all fantastic and it made a perfect base from which to explore the beauty of the North Devon coastline and Exmoor. I look forward to visiting again!

This was a fabulous old stone cottage, the hosts were welcoming and the smells of home cooking on arrival set the scene for a great holiday, the accommodation was extremely comfortable and the food would shame any 5 star restaurant, The studio facilities were brilliant, excellent light for painting, all in all it was a fantastic relaxing break

This charming old farmhouse must be in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. A drive away there is a National Trust property and a zoo; plus beautiful beaches and coastal walks. A short, but steep, walk down the hill from the farmhouse takes you to "The Dell" where you can cross the stream via many little wooden bridges, or sit on a bench and listen to the water and read a book or draw. The house is gorgeous - full of charm, but not short on modern comforts either. I visited as part of a group of family and friends, and this is the perfect venue - everyone had their own room (and bathroom), but could get together in the welcoming living room to socialise. The meals were fabulous, too! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: From what I saw, all the rooms are lovely! Some of the upstairs ones have lovely views.

Fantastic setting, great food and lovely accommodating hosts. Sandy and Mark could not do enough for us all. Without a doubt the best holiday stay ever. I had a lovely stay. Thank you so much for looking after us all in the Amanda Spencer holiday workshop.

Room Tip: Only slight thing is phone and Internet signal is a bit slow. But the stay is worth it.

This was a lovely break. Sandy welcomed us on arrival with a proper cream tea. We were all made to feel welcome throughout, and Sandy produced delicious vegetarian meals for me. Sandy and Mark are lovely people and I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for any group of people, either painters or walkers. It is particularly good for painters as there is a purpose-built studio with its own kitchen with tea and coffee supplies. The garden is picturesque with many interesting corners to paint. My room was lovely and cool, which suited me well, but there were hot water bottles and an extra heater provided if you needed it. I had a luxurious bathroom which although not ensuite, was very good with a modern, powerful overhead shower and everything was spotlessly clean. Sandy and Mark were always available to us, and all the lovely meals appeared as if by magic! Many thanks to you both.

Room Tip: My room "The Byre" on the ground floor just off the living room was nice and cool, just gr...

Off the beaten track, this was a perfect 'plein air' location for an excellent course, expertly run by the well known, successful water colourist, Paul Weaver. We experienced painting both outdoors and in the beautifully kitted out studio on rainy days. Our hosts Sandy and Mark ensured an unforgettable stay with them in their charming picture postcard, fully modernized farmhouse. Our accommodation was first class and the catering was sublime.

Room Tip: Our room - the converted hay loft was a spacious family 'en-suite' room, tastefully decorate...

Mark and Sandy could not have done more to make us welcome. The setting was very rural, with lovely sheep filled fields surrounding. The old farmhouse, with loads of lovely old beams (watch your head!), had been very tastefully furnished. On a rather chilly day for May the fires had been lit making it cosy and inviting. We had a lovely evening meal on arrival and the fantastic cooked breakfast, using totally local produce, could not have been bettered and kept us going for most of the day! We were shown the art studio, which is a great facility for those of an artistic bent.
Thank you Mark and Sandy. What a brilliant team you are.
