“Lovely cottage and grounds”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Myself, the wife and the 6 month old dog had a wonderful time. Inglenook Cottage was clean and comfy and John and Melanie are ideal hosts. Lots of super walks from the front door, a great pub very close (try the Exmoor Gin) and a friendly village shop.
Morning cup of coffee on top of the hill recommended.
We will be back.

A fabulous location within easy reach of beautiful walks on Exmoor and nearby beaches. Cosy, clean and comfortable cottage with very helpful owners. The fact that I could bring my dogs too was a treat. Looking forward to returning!

“Beautiful rural setting, log fires and dogs - heaven....”
Reviewed 12 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We stayed in Inglenook cottage from the 15th October to 22nd October with our 2 dogs (one of which was a rescue dog who we'd only had for 1 week, an 8 month old live wire spaniel!). We were lucky with the weather and had a great week visiting all the local places, a day on the beach, watching the red deer rutting at Cloutsham, fantastic walks in Porlock and Horner, Dunkery Beacon to name but a few. As for the cottage, it was perfectly situated, just a short walk up the road to the Black Venus pub, which we frequented most evenings, the food, atmosphere and staff all fantastic and they spoilt the dogs. Mind you the puppy provided entertainment by eating through his leads two nights in a row. The cottage itself was just perfect for us and the dog;s very cosy and the storage heating certainly belted out some heat over night. We used the log burner every night as the weather was getting slightly colder. The cottage has everything we needed, full information of places to visit. No phone reception in most of the area so use What's app (can even phone using this). John and Melanie are fantastic owners and have created a lovely rural retreat. Also very knowledgeable re places to go etc, and it's so nice to find somewhere where we can take our dogs also. We were so impressed we are hoping to go back in the spring and take our parents as well as the dogs! Thanks for a fantastic time, Mark and Helen, Dexter and Willow.

“Another fab week at inglenook”
Reviewed 9 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This is our fourth visit to town tenement and third stay in inglenook cottage. It really is our home from home, we have been coming to challacombe for many years and have lots of friends in the village in fact we become part of the village joining in with activities when we stay.
The cottage is perfect for us as we have three dogs that also come on holiday with us.
The cottages are maintained to a high standard and are cosy and warm
No doubt we will be back next year!

“C18th Inglenook Cottage”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable. We really appreciated the welcome and introduction, the clarity of information and the recommendations for walks in the region. It was lovely and peaceful. The cottage had everything we needed for the holiday and with something of a shortage of sunshine the ability to tumble dry washing was great. Although warned about the sticky wifi, it was nice to have. Perhaps one day the band might be broadened a little to make it easier to watch iPlayer programmes when the weather is wet, although the TV with integrated DVD player worked well. Also rather sticky was the 'non-stick' frying pan which has perhaps seen better days. The ease of access to the friendly little shop/post office and the pub was great - just a short walk up the lane and over a foot bridge across the stream by the ford to get all the essentials. We missed clear skies at night and warm sunshine during some of the days but otherwise it was a very enjoyable week. Thanks you.

Thank you for your review - we are happy that you had a comfortable stay (despite the poor weather). We are very lucky to have the local pub and shop so nearby, and so many lovely walks too.
We will replace the frying pan - thank you for letting us know.
See you again soon.
