“Splendid view”
Reviewed 29 July 2013 via mobile

First. How to get there: in Cassibile follow Avola Antiqua. Then you follow signs.
Splendid view when walking down. At the river there is a tiny source dripping out of the mountain (on the right side near a small waterfall) to drink or fill up a bottle. Wait until 5 o clock to go back up again: you can climb in the shade then which makes a huge difference when it's a hot sunny day!

“Paradise on earth”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

If you have a bucket list, this should be in the first few places. If you don't have strong knees though forget it. Yes it is hard to reach but it's worth the pain for all that beauty and I'm glad I did this for the second time now and will be going every year. I decided to go down hopping and jumping like a mountain goat, and then climbing back up at speed. Took me 15 mins to get down and 25 minutes to climb back up. Then my legs were sore for 4 days!! This is not for the faint hearted.
You will not regret the pain as it's rare to find such beauty.

“Great walk down, and up, the Canyon.”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Be prepared for a strenuous walk down. The path is not flat, stoney and you have to be very careful not to sprain your ankle. But the views down there are really rewarding. Then the hike up, well, its steep, and tiring. Take plenty of water.

“tyring but worth a look”

Cava grande is a place were yoy can relax. Although you have to walk for at least about 45 minutes down steepy stairs and 45 minutes to return back it is worth a visit. It is better if you go in the morning to avoid the hot sun and to take water with you. There are stunning views and you can swim.

“Well worth the hike”
Reviewed 14 July 2013 via mobile

The cava grande is well worth a visit, the scenery is fantastic.
The walk down from the top (where there is parking) to the rock pools below took us 45mins, and once down... Wow! Its a really refreshing swim awaiting you! Just beautiful. The walk up took 35 mins and we have a reasonable level of fitness and found going up much easier on the knees.
We visited in july on a hot sunday and there was ample parking and plenty of room around the various rock pools.
I wouldn't advise wearing sandals.
Great afternoon out, recomended.
