“Customer service needs reviewing.”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

We went to this cafe bar on Saturday 31st March for a quick snack whilst shopping. Really wish we hadn't bothered. We waited ages for anyone to acknowledge us, a young man eventually came to ask did we want drinks, on asking to order food he told us he could only take the drink order and would send a girl over to take our food order. Seemed a bit bizarre but hey ho. The girl eventually came and we ordered soup of the day , which incidentally was delicious, price on menu £1.95. Waited quite a while but it was worth the wait as it was delicious. When we got the bill they had charged us £7.90. Now whilst not a mathematician, even I could not multiply £1.95 x 2 and get £7.90. We queried the bill with the waitress and she sent over the manager who informed us that the price on the menu was wrong and that the soup of the day was £3.95!!!!! but if it was a problem to us he would charge us £3.90....What exactly he meant by it being a problem to us I don't know, did he think we couldn't afford it??? His manner was very arrogant and patronising, I think trading standards would take a very dim view of the pricing strategy. All in all not a pleasant experience and considering there were 6 young staff in a place that wasn't exactly bursting at the seams the inordinate wait seemed uncalled for. I would be loathe to go there again.

“Steve is back!”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

Steve is back at the Gallery! Having been a weekly visitor for some years, I watched with sorrow, a
thriving restaurant and bar drift downwards after Steve(the Manager) left. I never experienced the
poor service and attitude mentioned in other reviews, but the shortness of the menu, and the lack of
diners were becoming a problem.
However, Steve is now back and the whole atmosphere has changed, including the menu. Now, I am
spoilt for choice. The food has always been good, but now it is excellent.I have also had the new
tapas in the bar which were gorgeous. The prices have gone up a little, but there are many offers on,
and it is good value. Already, the restaurant is busy which improves the atmosphere. The staff are
good and cheerful. Thank Heaven we are back to normal!

“Service - what service”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

The staff are rude, unhelpful and self opinionated.
All we requested was a table for 2 for a cup of coffee - you would have thought I was asking for the moon, we were made to wait for over 30 minutes (there were at least 8 empty tables) so we sat down and were then informed that this table was reserved. The place was half empty, mid afternoon on a week day in January. They were just not really bothered in serving someone who only wanted coffee
