We stayed here for 2 nights for our friends wedding at the castle. What a lovely place. The rooms are lovely- we had no.7. Light and airy and spacious. Only thing I would change is put a shower with screen in bath- it got very wet using the attachment! The team were so organised and friendly- great on lead up to organise our booking and our stay. Home from home feel with the honesty bar and lounge area and as for the breakfast... Yummy! It was just a bit hot n the room but that was the weather's fault and our skylights which don't let much air in however the thermostat controlling the underfloor heating helped to control the temperature! Would definitely stay again- great value for a lovely stay for a lovely weekend away.

We stayed at Rowton Barns as it was ideally located to Rowton Castle where we attend our grand-daughters wedding. The owner and the staff were very welcoming and everything was immaculate. The "honesty bar "was a nice idea and made one feel at home in a cosy environment. Certainly to be recommended if either attending Rowton Castle Hotel or just exploring the Shropshire/Welsh countryside.

We stayed at the Barns on a Sunday night as we were attending a Wedding at Rowton Castle[5 minutes walk]. Room 1 was spotlessly clean ,large [family suite] . The owner and staff were very pleasant and obliging and the morning breakfast was spot-on ! Would recommend.

Room Tip: Room one was very roomy with double bed and bunks[if you have young children].

Stayed for one night when attending Weddint at Rowton Castle which is just a few minutes walk away.

Easy to find with plenty of car parking. The room was excellent! Have stayed in a number of B & B's over the years but this was the best. Light, airey, spotless room. Well furnished and comfortable bed. Bathroom was a 'wet room' shower arrangement which I personnaly prefer to a bath with shower over.

Although did not make use of it, there is a lounge with honesty bar - nice touch! Good breakfast cooked to order and selection of cereals etc.

Staying as a single person in a double room it was a little on the expensive side but for convenience and standard well worth it. If in the area again would certainly stay again!

We stayed for one night at Rowton Barns, as we were going to a wedding at Rowton Castle, about 10 minutes walk away. Overall the B&B has attractively decorated rooms, which are very clean and comfortable - our room wasn't large, but fine for a one night stay. It was disappointing not to have a shower, just a bath with shower attachment, luckily we were heading straight back home to London the next morning, so it wasn't a problem. Breakfast and check-out were both fairly early for a B&B targeted at people going to a wedding the night before - breakfast served until 9.30 on a Sunday, and check-out 10am. The breakfast was good, full english with cereals and toast. The breakfast room also has a lounge area, and honesty bar at the back of it, we didn't try that, but it looked very cosy and welcoming. I'd recommend for anyone going to a wedding at the castle.

Stayed here as we were attending a wedding at Rowton Castle. We were told that we had the smallest double in the building (why not reduce the price instead of giving an unapologetic apology?). It really was tiny though it was clean enough. I hated the wet room as everything got very wet so even more of our stuff had to be kept in the already cramped room. Puddles of water collected by the door so it was impossible to dry off properly and the shower was either scaldingly hot or extremely cold - it just didn't have a happy medium.
To add insult to injury, I was not at all impressed at breakfast when there were no menu cards (just a simple card to explain the breakfast options); no marmalade and a tasteless spread rather than butter was the only option! I will not bother staying again!

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get the smallest double!

Hello Suzanne B.

Firstly, thank you for your feedback following your overnight stay at Rowton Barns. I am sorry that you were disappointed. We are a small family business with dedicated staff who strive to provide an enjoyable experience for our guests and are always upset if our guests are not totally satisfied.

With regards to the size of your room, we do have a double room that is slightly smaller than other rooms. All rooms are individual due to the nature of the building which dates back to the 1800s. However, we have taken the same care and attention to detail with each room and believe that they should all provide a pleasing environment for an overnight stay.
Thank you for commenting on the cleanliness of the rooms. As you had noticed we believe that high standards of cleanliness are most important. The bride and groom reserved all ten rooms for the wedding party on this date and rooms were allocated based on the various requirements of the different guests. Your particular request was for a twin and a double next door to each other which we felt we had accommodated as best we could along with the other differing requirements of the rest of the party.

I am sorry that you felt you were unable to get a “happy medium” from the shower. We have recently spent a lot of time and money installing a new biomass boiler system which burns woodchip instead of gas to heat the water and many tests have been carried out by ourselves and the engineers on the system. We shall pass your comments on to the engineers.
We are most surprised that you did not enj oy your breakfast. The breakfast table is always laid with fruit juices, prunes, grapefruit or other fruits, various yoghurts, a choice of cereals and milk and of course Marmalade, Jams and Marmite. The highlight of breakfast as far as most of our guests are concerned is our traditional English breakfast. It is always cooked freshly to order and comprises of bacon and sausage reared locally and supplied by Churncote Farm Shop, eggs cooked to your liking and mushrooms and tomatoes. Brown or white toast, tea and ground coffee are also provided.

Marmalade is always available on the breakfast buffet table. We always welcome any requests and if anything has run out, we are always willing to replenish it for you. During breakfast, the buffet table is checked and replenished. I am sorry if this was not the case when you stayed with us and will remind staff to ensure this happens. Clover is always provided with the toast for breakfast as it is easier to spread than butter but again if you had expressed a preference for butter, we would have been more than willing to provide it for you.
