“Convenient for the Tram”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The hotel is in an interesting old building a few minutes from the tram stop. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is not a great deal of other pubs or restaurants in the near vicinity.

The rooms are clean but are very dated. Water pressure in the shower was a little low. At £55 for a twin without breakfast it was reasonable value.

we booked two rooms at Trafford Hall Hotel. we read the reviews and expected the worse.
but we were pleasantly suprised,
all of the staff were so friendly, yes the buliding is tired, yes it does need a lot of money spent on renovation.
the bed was comfy and clean the room we stayed in was massive the drinks at the bar were reasonably priced, its not a pretentious place and it defenatly does not try to be the hiilton of manchester.
thank you to all the staff for a comfy night
its a beautiful old building in need of some tlc

Let me start by saying that ALL the staff we wonderful. So friendly and chatty. However, the rooms and hotel itself is one of the worse I have stayed in.

There was a distinct smell of sewerage in the hotel and was woke up at daft o'clock by the incessant slamming of doors from neighbouring rooms.

The hotel was actually over run by teenage girls who were up & about making so much noise from just after 6am.

Back to the hotel itself. It is such a shame as it is such a run down tired looking place. It is like staying upstairs in a pub.

Would I stay here again?

I very much doubt it sadly. It would need a hell of a lot of money spent on both the interior and the exterior to make it more appealing.

Booked last minute, spent about 1hour in our room as we were off to see a band. Our room was warm & comfortable and seemed clean. We did'nt go round inspecting everything but from our observations it looked fine to us. Comfy large bed, plenty tea & coffee and packs of biscuits. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and plenty of hot water & towels. We had a drink in the bar friendly staff and sorted out taxi firm for us. We had a comfortable nights sleep we did'nt have breakfast. We got the metro into manchester and left the car at the hotel and collected it on our return. All in all a decent enough hotel we had an excellent deal and we would stop there again.

As a young couple from Australia travelling through Europe, we found comfort in staying at this hotel. Location is great for united fans as well as the average traveller! Only a short train trip to city centre. Staff were fantastic, especially "Jordan" he made our stay very memorable. Very affordable hotel, will definitely return for our next trip to Manchester!

Staff were really helpful and kind, for instance it was pouring down with rain and the barman loaned us his umbrella for the afternoon.
However the room was horrendous in dire need of updating. Extension leads every where, spiders and daddy long legs joining us for a stay, only BBC 1 worked whilst all other channels struggled for signal, shower wouldn't run mildly warm never mind hot meaning we had to bathe.
You get what you pay for I suppose!

With the area not known to us and with the attitude "it was only somewhere to rest our heads" we where pleasantly surprised with the character of the building, the room was spacious and comfortable and great value. we did not intend to have breakfast but with the warm atmosphere we decided to have breakfast which even for me was ample and for the first time I was unable to finish as it was so filling. The staff where helpful and friendly especially Brian who after serving breakfast and checking us out assisted us with some photos (thanks Brian) would recommend the hotel to others and look forward to my next visit up to Manchester.

Room Tip: Didn't have any noise issues even above the bar area.
