Reviewed 30 November 2013

Booked in for a business event at the Point.
Clean room, comfy bed, warm or cool, whichever you wanted.
I only wish I liked cricket. I had a balcony room with a view onto the pitch.
Continental breakfast was much better than expected.
Staff I met were friendly and efficient
One or two signs of general wear and tear that could be addressed - carpet in the corridors is worn and probably a bit dangerous in places.
A good value room, I liked it!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a balcony room, even if you don't necessarily like cricket, it's nice...

A big thank you to the team at the Old Trafford Centre. We had 4 rooms booked for the boxing for two nights, accommodation was perfect and met all of our needs. They even had to put up with our noisy behaviour, everything handled with tip top perfection. We will be back again. x

The basic of requirements in a hotel is a comfortable night sleep in a clean bed and cleanliness. I had neither.
I walked into a freezing cold room and turned the heating on (a small electric type heater on the wall) which when warm made a clicking noise of the thermostat cooling. This went on all night, a choice of being cold or being wakened every 10-15 minutes.
I turned my bed cover over to go to bed and I had a long dark hair on the clean sheets, I have a photo of this hair and now not knowing if someone has already used the bed or not everything came under scrutiny. The teaspoons were also unwashed from the previous user. I have a photo of these dirty spoons, but cannot upload these to show.
I cannot justify how I was dealt with at reception when I reported this in the morning, no apologies, just a casual throwing the feedback form to one side and a 'I'll give it to the manager when they get in' One week later and nobody has been in touch. I did ask her if that was it and was met with a blank look and a yes.
Then experienced the 'breakfast' Oh dear Manchester, Oh dear.....

We have just returned from a 3 night stay. We were In Manchester to visit the museums and art galleries. The hotel suited us and we had no problems apart from broken lift. The rooms are average size for a twin room and contained everything we needed. The lighting was the best of any of the hotels we have recently stayed in! The continental breakfast was very good including cereal, fruit, yog. pastries, cold meats, cheese etc toast, jams. What more do people want from a continental breakfast. Staff helpful and friendly. Metrolink close by.

Although part of the Old Trafford Cricket Ground complex the hotel was in an area with few amenities i.e. food and drink. As the hotel had no restaurant finding somewhere for a meal was difficult. On a two night stay we were obliged to order take-aways. The hotel became very noisy in the early hours of the morning with groups of people, mainly men, returning from a night out. The room doors were very noisy. Perhaps if bookings were taken from groups could they all be put on one floor while couples or single occupants put on another ? Although the bathroom was adequate with a shower we would have appreciated a bath.

No...I'm sorry but I cannot say I will ever stay here again. Dividing a building up into very small rooms and serving croissants and cereals in the morning does not earn you the right to call youself a hotel. The rooms are not hotel rooms, they are merely old hospitality suites with beds in....the walls are paper thin and the doors are extremely noisy. I will happily say that the staff we encountered during daytime hours were extremely helpful and courteous, polite and very pleasant. The problems occurred at night time as a result of group bookings when scores of latecomers entered the place in the small hours of the morning. The disturbances were immense and the noise of the shouting and constant banging of doors,(these doors DO NOT close quietly) kept us up all night. Furthermore , complaining to the night time reception team didnt help...it was almost as if they didnt believe what was going on "Are you sure the noise is coming from your floor?". "How do you know its the same people?" were the kind of questions asked to me when i phoned down. Despite their promise that they would "sort it out", nothing happened. If you like to get a good nights sleep at the weekend, this cannot be the place for you.

Hotel was basic but does what it says on the tin. Views from the balcony impressive. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful and a credit to the hotel. Plenty of choice from the continent breakfast.....
