“Quick visit but nice experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013

I ended up in this hotel because Lufthansa was unable to provide a plane for 400 people traveling to Frankfurt and all were put into hotels around Chiba. I arrived to the hotel in the evening and went pretty much straight to sleep but the hotel staff was really apologetic about our situation which felt nice after not getting any love from the Lufthansa people. I didn't get to see the area a lot but it seems to be a nice place to spend for example the last day before leaving Japan. The high rise apartment buildings and taking a cute monorail to nearby attractions that include a samurai village and a castle mound with a museum on top will be enough for one day easily. The hotel is right on top of a station which means a little noise from passing trains, but this being Japan they don't run very late. The twin room was tiny with room to open the luggage only on the bed, so don't leave your last minute packing for here. But it was very clean and neat. The good thing is that you don't have to get up in the wee hours to catch your flight in the morning. First train running to Narita was 5:47 and it took about 15 minutes to terminal 1. Maybe on my next trip to Japan I will go there voluntarily.

Room Tip: In 4th floor I heard the trains passing by but I was told in the 7th floor it was not heard.

Hotel and fittings have obviously seen better days, but the hotel is Japanese standard. This means; Spotlessly clean, even if the bath is 20 years old, it's still spotlessly clean. Staff will try to help but most won't be able to speak enough English.
Restaurant was good. and breakfast was fresh/interesting.

Unfortunately there was a hoard of loud Chinese peasant tourists staying while we stayed, with all the accompanying noise and pushing. Not hotel's fault I suppose, although increasingly the fate of aging hotels in the suburbs in Japan is to house crowds of poorly mannered, non-English/Japanese speaking Chinese nouveau riche tour groups...

Note: comments about Chinese are not to be understood in a generalized way, many Chinese tourists are polite and respectful, however the larger groups from second and third tier cities tend to have very little idea of how to behave outside of China.

Room Tip: Higher the better

I spent a week here on a business trip to Sakura and this was very convenient location on top of a rail station. Taxis are always ready to take you around town as well. There is also a nice monorail that makes a loop around this area of Sakura that starts and ends at the hotel with several stops along the loop. Fairly close to Narita airport, but I'd suggest taking the train if you can as a taxi ride can cost around 10,000 Yen (over $100)!
The hotel staff was excellent! Very helpful and accommodating. There is no WiFi in the hotel but there is wired LAN in the rooms. Unfortunately, the LAN in my room (753) wasn't working and after the staff checked it out, they promptly moved me to another room (853) where they made sure it worked before leaving me. Not speaking Japanese can often be difficult in towns like this away from Tokyo, but there were enough English speaking staff that I didn't have any trouble here.
I highly recommend an Executive Suite (15,500 Yen / night) for westerners that are used to having a normal size bed and adequate space to move around in their hotel rooms. The 2 room suite was pretty nice. Spacious enough and comfortable but pretty spartan on decor. The bathroom was great too with a whirlpool jacuzzi tub, large tiled shower area in one part and the awesome electronic toilet (heated seat, ventilated, and male and female water jet controls) and sink in the other area.
There is a mall across the street from the hotel connected by a covered walkway that pretty much has anything you'd need shopping wise, as well as restaurants and even a movie theater. Several other very nice restaurants are only a short walk away from the hotel as well.
Much of the area near the hotel is residential with some great parks that I recommend checking out. I went for walks all around the area and explored the surroundings almost every day before work and found some very nice places. There are also several Geocaches close by so I made a point of hunting those as well. The monorail is a nice way of checking out the area too as it makes a loop around this section of the city and is only 200 Yen (around $2).
The restaurant in the hotel has a decent breakfast that suits most tastes (Western and Japanese) and I also had dinner there one night and was very happy with my meal and service.

After having been totally spoiled at the Royal Park Hotel in Tokyo on my last trip here, I was a little worried that hotels out here in Sakura weren't going to measure up but I was pleasantly surprised that I was more than comfortable here and would happily stay here again. Not nearly as plush and extravagant as the Royal Park Hotel, the Wishton Hotel is a fine choice if you are doing business in the Sakura area and much more convenient. The subway and train rides out from Tokyo to Sakura can take over an hour so the short 10min ride in a Taxi to the company I was working at in Sakura was so much better. Just don't expect much nightlife out here like you get in Tokyo but that's only a train ride away.

Room Tip: Junior Executive Suites are a must for most Westerners.

While this hotel is in the suburbs, it is on top of the railway station which makes using Japans excellent railway system very easy. We had a 2 room suite which made our 5 day stay very enjoyable. Breakfasts were good, staff friendly but with the usual language challanges in Japan

Room Tip: Go for a suite as other rooms a small by our standards

My wife and I stayed about a week here at the hotel. When they joked on the website the rooms are tiny, they are not kidding! I am 6'2" and we got the twin room. The bed is slightly smaller than a double, but with no room for suitcases, we slept in one bed and used the other for suitcases. The rooms had about 24 feet of walking space, 18" wide. The beds were typical Asian, hard. Even with the train station outside the window, we rarely heard it. We didn't spend much time in room. It is nice it is next to the train station, so transportation is good. Several nice restaurants in area, little night life. We loved the bakery downstairs and the sandwiches. The breakfast buffet was exactly the same every morning, Japanese and American. We couldn't take it any more. The staff were very polite, but few spoke adequate English, which made it difficult to ask questions. Note: No English channels on TV, even CNN is dubbed in Japanese. Overall a nice place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the town and not train station.
