Stayed here as one of the locations on our 5-day Scottish tour. Such a beautiful location with a wonderful view o the loch. Went for a walk down the lane to the beach and collected some shells. Very quiet and comfortable. Very clean.

Loved this inn just off the main road and nestled in the woods with a view of the loch. We had room 8 over the breakfast room with views of the loch. While there was some noise from the breakfast room it wasn't overwhelming.

Breakfast was an assortment of normal Scottish selections and one choice of eggs and salmon. Very nice and relaxing. Just wish we had booked two nights instead of one.

After driving from East Yorkshire to Scotland, me and my Dad were relieved to get to our guesthouse and were pleasantly surprised at the idyllic location and amazing rooms.
The guesthouse is down a private road and overlooks a beautiful Loch. It is also very near the Isle of Skye (you can actually see the mountains from the guesthouse). There are some woodland walks surrounding the guesthouse too if you fancy them.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, advising us on places to explore and places to eat.
The rooms were very clean, the beds were so comfortable and the showers were very good. We had TVs in our rooms, refreshments such as a variety of tea, coffee and biscuits and the guesthouse also had WIFI. The breakfasts were lovely and set us up nicely for the day.
We had to stay in 2 rooms during our stay. I stayed in room 3 and then we stayed in room 8 which has an annexe and is designed for families. The only negative thing I can say is that when staying in room 3, I could hear every movement from the room above and it was quite loud.
The prices are very reasonable considering the idyllic location and quality of the rooms, however, you must book in advance as the guesthouse is very popular. We are planning to go again in May as we loved it so much!

We stayed on 2 separate nights as we went to and from the Isle of Harris and wanted to break our journey and enjoy some of the local area. We had 2 different rooms (2 and 6) and they were both really tastefully decorated and were very comfortable and had beautiful en-suite shower rooms with a plentiful supply of hot water and lovely Arran Aromatics toiletries. Breakfasts offered a lovely selection to choose from, great jugs of coffee and on both occasions, we met the most lovely of staff who were all friendly and attentive and could not have been nicer. It was even better being able to sit in a lovely airy room that has beautiful views over the water.

The B&B has lovely views over the loch over to Skye and the light is magical as the weather was very variable. There is a pebbly beach close which is fun if you love collecting shells and anemones.

Kyle of Lochalsh is a short drive away as is Eilean Donan castle and Plockton so is great if you have access to a car.

We would have not hesitation in staying here again and I am sure that we will en-route to the Hebrides, and will certainly recommend to friends. Thank you to everyone who looked after us.

Room Tip: Room 2 - ground level and Room 6 - elevated view of loch, more spacious and a massive comfy bed. We would pick either of these rooms again

I only regret that we did not stay longer. This is a lovely and quiet location in Scotland. I would rather stay here than on the Isle of Skye as it was incredibly crowded. The loch side views make Balmacara Mains the perfect place to stay. The breakfast here was fantastic with several cooked options and a tasty continental spread as well. Staff serving breakfast were friendly. Coffee and tea available in the rooms. For dinner one will need to head to Kyle of lochalsh or dornie.
