Our family stayed here for 5 nights during January and had a great time. The service given by the owners was outstanding. They picked up our family and all our luggage from the train station, offered us heavily discounted lift passes and were always on hand to help when needed. The meals were truly delicious with a blend of western/Japanese dinners and a choice of Japanese or western style hot breakfasts. Our young kids just loved the hot chocolate/coffee machine in the dinning room that was available breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Although the owners are still learning English with a little help from their translator phones we were always able to communicate our message to one another. Their English is a lot better than my Japanese that's for sure.
The location is fabulous, right next to the top of lift one, so you just cross the narrow lane, click on your skis and away you go. When you're travelling with two small children the location can make a big difference.
There is a selection of different rooms, some with western beds and others with tatami mats/futons. The rooms are a little on the small side although we've found this is the norm for a lot of Japanese accommodation. Most of the rooms also have a loft sleeping area that can be used while all have their own toilet and vanity, although showers/onsen baths are shared.
The ski resort itself is a good size by Japanese standards, although not big. There is a number of easy green runs at the base working up to more difficult black runs at the top. There is also a good selection of gladed tree runs in the resort which allows those looking for deep powder to get in amongst it.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hopefully will on our next trip to Japan.
